I was wondering if it was really necesary to build up your transmition when running loww 11 or high 10 sec runs?

I've looked at the 1/4 mile time list and very few have done alot of work to the tranny why?

thanks

I just did an OEM rebuild ... it's recommended you get an aftermarket trans, but it's cheaper to just buy what you need and rebuild it yourself. The problems I ran into is that TRE or SHEP won't sell parts outright ... only if they install them as well. I just get oem parts from the dealer and it holds.

Ow you can do it and stock trans. Supposidly Extreme's 1g has a bone stock trany in it. But it depends on how many times you want to rebuild it. Get a TRE and it should hold alot more abuse. Get a stock one and be like me..... on number 4 in a year.

Some guys don't list tranny mods. The main weak spot in the tranny is the center diff, so for most of the fast cars that's the only part that needs to be strengthened.

Maybe you should try to contact Jon at TRE directly via email or Shep for that matter. I just bought the 1-2 upgrade kit that TRE offers on their website($300+shipping) Shep offered me the same kit for roughly the same price. You can also buy new gears, heavy duty double synchros, diferentials, locking spools, etc, etc... Like you said, do your own rebuild(if you can)but I say use the upgrade parts from TRE or Shepracing. Just my .02
Peace

A 4-spider is stronger than the stock 2-spider, yes. By quite a bit.

I have a TRE trans, and I go between periods of babying it, to just beating the holy hell out of it. Shifts beautiful, doesn't have ANY problems.

EDIT: I'm sure if you talk to Jon (TRE) or John (Shepracing) they will sell you the parts you want. They are businesses, they are out to make a profit. The only way they can do that is by selling items. :thumb:
