ACT OR Centerforce clutch for 1G

here is my question? what do you guys think would be a better "streetable" clutch for me, the ACT 2600 or Centerforce Dual Friction clutch? as of right now my car is mostly stock (1990 tsi awd with 92 head and cams). in the NEAR future i will be puting in a new xfer case, rebuilt 6 bolt motor (no balance shafts), exhaust, 16g (probably small),and all the other bolt on mods (boost controller, walboro, ect ...). i will NOT be racing the car very often and it will be my daily driver. i have driven an awd dsm with the act clutch and it is managable, but i do have a bad back from a car accident and am looking for a more comfortable pedal feel (close to stock). does this clutch (centerforce) hold up good in 1Gs? i know some local 2G guys that love the centerforce, but i have not yet met anyone with a 1G w/ the centerforce clutch installed. if it doesn't hold up well i can deal with the act just fine, but i would "like" to have a softer pedal. :confused: :talon:
 
I am ordering the act2600 w/fidenza flywheel in a few weeks. I put an act2600 in my old 90 gst and I loved it. You're right, The pedal pressure is alittle bit more 'intense' but after awhile it gets better and you get useto it. I havent ever tried any other clutch and I dont think I ever will. Sorry if that didnt help at all.

A friend of mine used a center force on his VR4 galant and it didn't even last him 12k miles. I am going on 20k miles on my act2600 and it still feels great. You get use to the pedal pretty fast after about 3k miles it feels like a stock clutch untill you get into a stock car and almost slam the clutch through there floor board :D
 
I'd recomend the ACT 2100 for you. It will feel just like stock, and if you also install a braided clutch line the feel gets a little better. I've also driven a friends car with a Centerforce clutch and it feels as light as stock, too. My other car has an ACT 2600 and it's definately harder to push, so if your back is aggravated from a stock clutch, then the 2600 would make it worse. The 2100 is good for consient low 14's to high 13's at the track, but it's gone faster with care.
 
well i decided on an ACT 2600. i bought one from a buddy at nitrous express for $300.00. i should have bought his aluminum flywheel while i was at it but oh well. i did think about the ams clutch but i did not really want to wait to get it (since nx and another local shop had the clutches readily avalible). now i have my new used tranny and my clutch so i will get my awd up and running very soon. thanks everyone for your input. it was appreciated. :thumb: :talon:
