My main concern is does Pennzoil Synchromesh really work and if yes how much of a temporary solution is this. Perhaps for some of you that have used this you could please tell me the type of problem you were having and if it worked to fix it and for how long. How does Pennzoil Synchromesh work anyway is it just an additive that you put in your trany fluid?

I have a 90' AWD and my tranny was grinding into almost every gear upshifting or downshifting. I used GM syncromesh that I got from the local chevy dealer and now it shifts like brand new. I strongly recomend this stuff, it works wonders.

i say get it, itll help alot with shifting. All my gears used to be notchy as crap and grind sometimes, now there nice and buttery most of the time, sill have slight problems with 2nd and 4th falling out but nothing like it used to be.

I never had any gear grinding in my tranny, but after dropping in some Pennzoil Syncromesh this weekend, I can't believe how much smoother each shift is. If you can't find the GM product, the Pennzoil variety is made to the same specs so have it.

Oh and to answer your question, it replaces your existing tranny fluid so remove the old fluid and load it up with this stuff.

It is the one true God of Grease.

The Redline, Royal Purple and BG are also minor deities, just more expensive.

And there's some talk of a compatiblity problem with DSM synchro material and Redline, but RRE still recommends it.

Not trying to hijack the thread but it's on the same subject.... After I put my trans back together I put in BG synchroshift and I love it, but my axel seals are leaking so I just bought Penzoil Synchromesh... Anyone have experience with both? Which is better?

bought the Pennzoil tonight at Autozone for 4.99/qt. Hope it works as well as you guys say. :)
