awd tranny output shaft?

Ok I just bought a laser rs for hella cheap. It was 450 bucks. It only has 89k and was a pretty good deal. The only thing wrong with it it the transfer case is all f'ed up. So i pulled the T-case and the out put shaft from the tranny came with. What I mean is it pulled right out with the T-case. The splines were all twisted and it was bad. My question is are these shafts interchangable. Could I put a 22 spline one on and just get a 22 spline transfer? I ask this because I found a really cheap tranny which I need for my 91 tsi but it is 23 spline. So im think about buying it and switching around the output shafts. Taking the one from the bad tranny in the tsi and putting it in the new tranny. Then taking that one and putting it in my laser rs tranny. Im pretty sure the shafts will work in differnt tranny's but i want to make sure. So will they?

Damn, need to get Recalls done! ASAP! well from what you Discribed, The t-case has locked up, and Fugged the output shaft. and if it came out with the t-case, Theres some hella shit goin on inside that trans. heres the prob, Theres diffrent count splines. You can put a 22 spine into a 23 spline TRANSMISSION. but it wont mate up to a 23 spline T-CASE, get it?????

yah i get it , and thats what i meant. But I took the transer off my 91 talon tsi and counted splines about 20 mins ago and counted them. It has 23 also. I thought they had 22. I dunno, So i dont have this problem now. Thx for info.
