alright i have looked through the last 5 pages of posts, and every time someone asks this question no one replies. i have a 95 awd tsi talon, and it supposedly has a self adjusting clutch. now the problem is, is that when i shift, i need to push the pedal all the way to the floor to get it to disengage enough so it doesn't grind, but when i am releasing the clutch, it doesn't grab till its 1/2 go 3/4 of the way back out. is this a clutch adjustment..and can you adjust a self-adjusting clutch, or is it a pedal adjustment, or just a really warn clutch? or something else. please let me know what you think it is, and how to fix it. thanks

Self adjusting means as the clutch disc wears down the engagement point won't change.

There is a way to adjust the clutch. There is a threaded rod under the dash where the clutch pedal pushes on the master cylinder. I'm not sure if it will help in your case, since it sounds like you have a problem in the hydraulic system somewhere. Check the clutch fluid level, check under the dash for any leaks, check the hoses and fittings for leaks, and check under the slave cylinder boot for signs of fluid leaks. If there are no leaks I would suspect the master cylinder needs replacing.

thanks you guys, that helped a lot, sorry i didn't try searching, last time i did, i didn't get jack squat, so i stopped using it. yeah i was thinking it was wearing down also, and that just why its so low to engage. as far as i know its still the original clutch on an awd tsi with 90k on it. any more info would be great.
