My car already has 120k miles, i have a rebuilt engine, new turbo and some other things. Only thing im to worried about is the tranny. How long will the 5 speed tranny usually last? Theres some sticking going into first but it still goes in quite easily and it doesnt pop out of any gears. Id say its still in good condition, and the car hasnt been driven to hard or been taken to a track etc. Just normal driving...

Thanks guys.

There's just no way to tell you, it's too user-specific. If you double-clutch and don't bang gears, and give them the chance to use the synchros on upshifts, a transmission should never wear out. And at the same time, one missed shift can make it shit the bed. All that said, it's not uncommon for a gearbox to outlive an engine. And for an abused transmission to go out at 5K miles.

I pulled my current trans out of an unmolested 90 AWD with 192k on it. The transmission doesn't appear to have been rebuilt. Its been shifting fine in my car for about 9k miles or so. 1-2 shifts aren't lightning fast, but it doesn't grind, and there's never any metal in the oil.

I agree with Defiant, a DSM 5-speed will last nearly forever if you don't abuse it.

Depends on how much you beat on it. I would do a thorough inspection every 60k or so, but I beat on mine pretty hard sometimes.
