CFDF 2500 Clutch, What is it and how good is it?

Most shops carries them. Best pricing may be from either RRE or DSMotorsport.

I have one in my 2G. For a 13 second car, maybe high 12 second car, I feel it is a great buy. If you are makin more power than that, i may not last as long. Couple things... break this clutch in. If you don't, it will not last. If you let it sit between launches at the track, it will last you a long time. if you hot lap it, expect it to die quick. I put almost 90 track passes on mine, slipping it at 6K and getting 1.6-1.8 short times. The replacement has handled ~30 passes and still holds strong. It feels stock, grabs smooth, but holds the power well. Excellent daily driver clutch. It is such a treat to get into the 2G after driving the 1G in stop and go traffic for a week or so. Give the left leg a rest! Then again, it is equally a treat to get back into the 1G and gothat much faster!
 
Anyone else have any thoughts on this clutch?

How about an Exedy clutch<<I think thats the brand. They are like $160 bucks and suppose to be good. I am aiming for a mid 12 sec car at the most, which clutch should I get. I dotn want a 2600 (i dont have crankwalk and i dotn want it)
 
If you want a good clutch that feels like stock then try looking into a Clutch Masters clutch. There a little more pricey than the ACT clutch but they hold just as good and don't but as much stress on the cranks bearings like the ACT clutch does. The way the pressure plate is designed reduces the pressure on the crank but doesn't compremise the holding power. Clutchmasters
 
Not much experience with DSM clutches... CFDF is an excellent clutch for the MR2, but ACT is junk. Seems like ACT is good for DSMs though, so any info I have probably doesn't apply! :)
 
I have a CFDF and my opinion is it's a POS!! I broke it in properly and always let it cool between passes but it started slipping after about 6 months. ACT 2600 for an AWD DSM is the only clutch that is proven time and time again ;)

Well, then again look at all the tranny problems with DSMs...and all I hear is everyone running ACT 2600 clutches.

yeah same thing I was thinkin, act2600= tranny problems and crankwalk. No 2600 for me, never.
 
clutch masters have had a good name around here for a while cfdf in my region all teh cars eat these for lunch, the act is seeming to hold up well the 2600 has a really stiff pressure plate...

im going custom ceramic plate on my car use stock pressure plate modular or non and it only cost me around 100$ give or take to get the plate..
