when i bought my car i blew the rods in about 5,000 miles i took it back to the mitsubishi dealer and had them put a clutch in as well. the tech that did the work put motor oil in the tranny and i asked him what he was doing? he replied that mitsubishi's use the same oil in the motor as in the tranny. can somebody tell me if this is true or is it a bunch of B.S.

by the way it seems to grind 2nd alot...

No, that is complete BS. The manual says GL-4 or GL-5 which is gear oil.

Well said. On another note the guy might be thinking of honda's, they use motor oil in the tranny, even the haynes manule says to, but not for DSM's. Although I heard somewere that honda had thier own special "MTL" now. So go kill!

i woulda used race gear oil anyway for better shifts, and most techs would fix trannies under warranty anyway regardless, 6 hours paid is 6 hours paid, the techs at my job do it unless it's really chewed up and can't prove warranty failure

That's not right... I hate briging it to the dealership. On top of that they charge you to much money.
