On most if not all mornings or the first start up of the day...a grinding sound comes from the tranny. It goes away after a bit like when its warmed up or after i started driving. Does anyone know what this could be??

its done it for quite sometime and hasnt seem to have any damaging effects. It just happens for about 5min at the most when idling and warming up on the first start of the day.

check your tranny fluid, most lilkley you are low and the bearings are jittering and vibrating around, it goes away eventually because the fluid that IS there (pooled in the diff) finally gets spread around good and properly lubricates it.. my friends car did this..

a likley culprit is a halfshaft has pooped out a little letting alot of your fluid drain out..

undo the fill hole and stick your little finger int there and reach down.. if you dont get fluid all over it your low..

Ok this is a easy one. The berings in youre tranny are going bad. I had the same problem. Its not the fluid low or anything but dose have to do with the fluid. There are tons of berings in the tranny that spin freely when in nutral. When it is cold the fluid is thiker so makes it grind sound. When it warms up it coats better. it is no big deal to get fixed right away. I had mine doing it for over 50,000 miles. And why it goes away when you push in the clutch is because you stop all movement in the tranny. Ok well if you take it too a shop they will teell you you better get it fixed right away or you can leave here and it will lock up on you. That is bull shit because like i said i drove like that for over 3 years. Also one ? dose it only happed in winter or cold and rainny days or every morning? Ok good luck on it

The bearings failing is not BS. I've had that happen to me, which is why I am now the owner of a TRE Trans.

Get that transmission checked out, it's not fun when shit locks up.

Oh yeah its no BS just saying that if its not loud and not grinding and just dose it when its cold then it should not go out on you. I forget wich bering dose it but it will not lock up and you can still drive it but should get it fixed. Well bottom line is you should get a new tranny and do not get youres rebuilt because its a wait of money and time. Iam alos a proud owner of a new race tranny. I had mine rebuilt and it went up again in 6 months so its a wait. When dsm tranny go its best to get a whole new one or a race one from rre or sbr or so forth. Ok good luck.
