Off to the track for my first time

Well I'm leaving for the track for the first time. Wish me luck. I will be happy with a 12.9 since it's too hot for me to tune any higher than 1.3 bar on pump gas and I will be full wieght. I will post my times when i get back.

Well It wasn't a good start to my drag racing career .

First bad sign. My buddies helmet was snell approved but it didn't have the stamp on it so if I went under 13.99 I couldn't run again.

I lined up next to a GMC sonoma with altezza's

I pre-stage

The lights drop

I launch

Miss second, the car dies, I have a heart-attack.

I coast to the finish at an astouding 22.24@54mph

Found out the coil pack harness popped out. I didn't run again. Maybe next week. The car is fine except my AC spal fan keeps blowing the its fuse.

All in all it was fun some other SWDSM guys where there and another L2R with tuning issues ran a 12.7.

Nice Larry what was your 60* time. Sucks your coil pack gave u problems but i know how my car is. When i went to race last year in my old car i staged and the car died had no previous problems. so i start it up Rev to launch and it shuts off so im done now other guys already gone so i start it put it in reverse and it runs fine. Then runs fine all the way home. Next day checkin the car over i notice theres a lil oil in the over flow bottle. So teh HG was blown but i think my car was telling me somethjing was up b/c with 7k revs and banging gears blowing on the track would have been bad plus the 125 mile tow i would have had to pay for. I think the DSM gods saved me a motor and about 100 bucks or more.

I always miss F'n 2nd or 3rd too, I think i get to excited and let the clutch out to soon. I NEED a short throw shifter.

Sean I'm John not larry. i don't know what it was since I only launced at like 3k and since they towed me off the track I didn't get my slip.

I have a POS OBX short-shifter. I really need to get a B&M.

Lol pretty good considering that was only 1 gear in my car.

Couldn't be just first gear or you never would have went 54mph, let alone coast to a 54.

Dont feel bad. I've gone even slower than that on a shorter track (1000ft). I blew and IC pipe right at the start and it took me 43 seconds to baby the car very very very very slowly to the first exit. I felt dumb as sh!t with my helmet on and all.
