i have heard that for the 2g dsm to shift at 6000rpm because the last 1000rpm are useless unless u get cams. so when i go to th track should i be shifting at 6000 or more???
 
Thats pretty good advice for a stock T25. When you upgrade to a 16g turbo or equivalent you'll end up wanting to go closer to redline. The cams have a little to do with it, but it has to do more with the usable power band of the turbo being used.
 
i dont have a 2g but from what i heard is you shift early because the t-25 can't go that long anyways. the boost dies in the upper 5k's so why keep going with no boost...
 
easy thing to do is put it on a dyno and see where it makes peak power at and you will know exactly where to shift at.
 
It's not only the T-25 running out of breath, it's also that by shifting at 5K instead of 6, you're dropping down into its best output range for coming up in the next gear.

You heard that from sport compact car didnt you? Yeah the car STOCK wont pull hard enough to make it worth going past 6k, but all of our 2g hp STOCK is at 6k(210) so I set my shift light at about 5.9k rpms so when it goes off Ill react at about 6100 or so rpms.
