Ok, so I'm not a DSM owner, we all know this. But I still like posting here occasionally because I like DSM's and my dad's owns a 95 GSX and I like to help him out with info. ANY on the Mirage forums, some chick took over and baned strret racing posts on there so this is my next best choice.

Any, I have a 2002 Mirage LS coupe 5 spd, with 1.8 liter engine. Basiacally stock, flowmaster muffler, K&N. Well I'm going to race this 2003 civic EX 5 spd, needless to say with a big ol' system in the trunk. Now, not sure how much any of you guys know about Mirages, but what are the chances of me winning?

I've kept up before with civic's with my old 4g15 mirage.

I consider myself to be fairly good seeing that I've hung with cars easily that do 16.2's in my g15 (92 horsepower 1.5 liter, for those of you who didn't know). My new g93 is slightly faster, but it isn't any rocket ship either.

With him having a heavy ass system in the back... you might be able to beat him... but if he took that shit out... I don't think you have a chance... I would know because I a Honda too.... Those Mirages are pretty weak.. My friend has a 97'LS Coupe and he chipped a valve seat spraying a 50 shot... so If I were you I would save and turbo that engine.. just my .02 Later Mike

Oh man, they are terribly weak, I know. 113 hp? I'm planning on starting a custom turbo set up soon, thats why I don't bother with CAI or headers. But I might build my own little CAI for $10 from Home Depot or something just to get a bit more low end. Although, I think with the flowmaster and K&N, I'm atleast putting out 115-117. What a gain huh? Maybe with my "CAI" I'll have over 120, hahaha. After driving my dad's GSX for a night, a mirage feels like a scooter.

Within the next year I'll plan to have custom CAI, custom 2.5 cat-back, flowmaster, K&N, stage one Camshaft, adjustable camgear, and bored TB and intake manifold. Hopfully then a nice 130-135hp......seeing that mirages are so light, I'll maybe do a mid-high 15? eh, who cares.....

You should be able to hit high 15's on your new setup.. my buddy hits a good low to mid 15's with a 50 shot... your cam should help along with your bored out TB and IM... good luck ... Mike

Thanks, I just have to get off my damn lazy ass and get a good job to make all this come true.

Your should be able to beat the EX preety easily if you run low 16s...those 02-03 body style civic's are slow as balls....

you stock < him stock youd get owned, now I dont know it be close if he was stock. They are ALOT tourquier than the old civics and pull much harder as well, but then again its still a civic. Good luck
Andrew

So you got hope if you got money...hehehhe

Why would you even bother racing these cars? Is it a joke or what? These cars are not capable of going fast. Thats like two dsm's next to each other starting in 2nd and slowly accelerating, but that still might be faster than these cars. Get a turbo kit and race real cars. Its not even good enough to call racing. I'd take my bmx to any of you guys and take you off the line.....hahahahahahaha

Take who with the BMX?

Dude did you not see the links I posted. I would say 7.48 at 176 is FAST. Or 12.1 with full interior. Hondas can bearly do that...

Its a import. You take a 4 banger and you built it to spank V8's. He just wants to do that with a Mirage.:dsm:

I know these cars are capable of high hp numbers. But i hate. when people race there slow cars and call it racing. Like why would you want to race civic ex?? You might get beat by it but it doesn't matter b/c my moms Ford Windstar will tear them both a new *&^hole.

dont sleep on the windbag... I mean windstar. Yes a WINDSTAR is faster then both...but still dont flam him or his car he didnt say anything about your car.

Oh yeah dont bring up 12 sec street cars when the matter is about a 16-17 sec street car. Its rude to whore the mans thread up.:barf:

I was trying to help the man out by letting him know with the right mods he would not be worrying about Hondas but V8 LT1's....sorry:thumb:

Yeah, the 4g93 Mirage is a mid 16 car. But hey, what about NA DSM's, Their low 17's.

They did make a DOHC 4g93t engine, just not in America. Not sure about the specs on it, but with the right tuning of a SOHC 4g93, it would be able to take mildly modded V8's. Of course it'd be crazy ass money put into the mirage, but they're not as much of a dumb little pos with no potential car as many may think.

With a custom turbo set up with 16g turbo, at 8-10 psi on stock internals and 2.5 inch turbo-back exhuast, a mirage will easy run low 14's. Possibly break into 13's

What kills the Mirages 1/4 mile times is bad top end. They do 0-60 in under 9 seconds where as a NA DSM does in over 9 seconds. But then the top end kills the 1/4 mile times. I'm willing to bet a mirage with better top end, would cut a high 15 to low 16. Not bad for having under 120hp.

I love DSM's. I'm not trying to talk crap on any DSM. My dad has a 95 GSX and I drive it a lot. I love the car. Just trying to let all you know that Mirages really respond to mods, and they can be damned fast cars.

I never did end up racing the civic. But I have raced a few V6 GM domestics and ran even with them all the way through. And those cars run low 16's....Again not a great time, but remember, the car has under 120 hp. Light cars own, excpet in rain and snow....

All the top end in the world is not gonna help a car with only 120hp run a 1/4 time of high 15s .....
