12's on pump with a small 16G

I went to the track this weekend and managed some very good times with my small 16G, untuned, on pump gas.

For the record, I added about .3 to .4 gallons of 110 leaded gas on top of 5 gallons of 92 octane. I knew I would be running hard all day, and wanted a small safety net. This calculates out to a maximum octane of 94. The car was not re-tuned in any way. The same as it is driven on the street.

I was able to trap a steady 109mph on all 4 passes. I managed to run 12.9, 12.7, 12.7, and the best of the day was a 12.6
Almost all of my 60 foots were mid to high 1.8's spinning through 1st gear.

I have a built motor with a ported and polished head, stock cams, 9:1 pistons, and stock rods. The head is built for revving, but at the track I made every shift at or below 7000rpm. I have a supra sidemount, full intake and IC piping, and a HKS VPC + S-AFC. 550 fuel injectors and a 190 fuel pump. Plenty more mods too, if you think something is worth mentioning, just ask.

The boost was set at 15, but was more influenced be creep. I didnt make any boost changes, but set at 15psi it makes the following:
1st: 18psi
2nd: 18psi
3rd: 20-22psi
4th: 22psi

Just FYI, my best race gas run to date is 12.49 at 111 or 112. Although with these recent pump gas times, Im certain I can do better with some tuning, cams, and a FMIC. Maybe high 11's at 115-117 at the right track with the right conditions.

Why only 15psi? I know a guy running 450s, a fuel pump and a frank jr 17c turbo and hes running 19psi on the street with 94 octane!
 
I am not running 15psi. The boost controller is set there. That is when the wastegate opens. The lowest I have ever managed is 18psi in the low gears, and 20-22 in the higher gears. A lot of fuel has to go in to manage 22psi on pump gas though.

If I set it any higher than 15psi, the wastegate would open later and the creep would be worse.

I know a kid that was running 19 lbs. on a Super 16G on stock fuel system... Crazy, I know, but we was doin it and running pretty well...
 
Just curious what your trap speeds were for these runs?

What you think I'll run at 24 psi on my small 16g. I have a FMIC so I can bump it up to 24 at the track. Tell me honestly what you think I would run. Don't be like, "Go to the track". Just tell me some guesses of what I'll run. Remember we're coming up on Sept. which is colder days and BTW: I'm a good driver. Thanks. Peace. :talon: :thumb:

I hate to do this to ya, but theres just no way to know. You could run 12's or 14's.
My car has always seemed faster than it is supposed to be, regardless of how poor of a state of tune it is in.
I have a friend that has similar mods to me, but not as many. His best is a 15.5 I think. The car is AWD and no boost leaks can be found. He has stock fuel, and no tuning devices so there is nothing to "mess the car up"

At 24psi, on race gas I hope, I am guessing you will run low 13's to high 12's.
If your car is extremely well tuned you could maybe turn a mid 12.
