Neon VS my GSX

A kid with a 132hp neon 5speed , wants to race me and i quote" will destroy my piece of shit. I own a 98 GSX auto , catback exaust. He claims he wont only win , but he will beat me by far

Id like to see your responses to this kids statement.

Ummm check again... he has a tach. You can't buy a manual vehicle without a tach... hell half the automatics out there now have tachs. But you'll smoke him with ease... when punks used to think they were hot shit and challenge me I'd open the sunroof, roll the windows down, blast the stereo, turn on the A/C and ask a few girls to go along for the ride. Nothing more embarrassing than losing to a car packed full of girls with the windows down, stereo blasting etc.

I guess just check under the hood. Unless you really know him, maybe he was dumb enough to put money into the neon and make it a total sleeper. Check for N2O and maybe a turbo. But even with that you should take him, unless he's running both: of course then his engine should blow anytime now.

Are you kidding? A DOHC Neon is never going to beat a GSX stock for stock.

Although the 2.0 dohc neons can be sleeper. A buddy of mine runs mid 13's with ihe and dr's and a diet(~140whp and 2000#'s). They have good torque and hell, their sedans only weigh 2400#'s.

Thats if you call a 2.0L engine making 150hp and 133ft/lbs of torque good (based on '98 Neon RT). Come on, seriously do you think this can beat a turbo DSM? Gimme a break, he has 210hp (stock, like anyone is still stock on this site), and 214ft/lbs of torque.

Plus the added bonus of being AWD (unfortunately we're talking auto in this case) will own of the launch.

He even said it's a 5spd 130ish hp Neon we're talking. Not a damn chance for that neon.

They have good torque compared to other N/A four bangers ie a Type R which get about 165whp at 110 wtq.

By the fact that the kid said he would beat him by far would make me guess he's either an ignorant dumb#### (more likely) or he may have nitrous or something else up his sleeve. That's why i added the info about my friend pulling mid 13's with relatively little mods!

I can tell you for sure that my brother's 95 base Neon is a manual and didn't come with a tach.

yeah, my honduh civic was manual and had a tach. Although i think it's the dumbest thing i've ever seen!!! A lot of manual cars come without tachs.
