I was wondering if it would be possible to run 11's on a stock 14b turbo in a fwd. I have a 90 laser fwd turbo and i have been thinking if it would be possible at all. The car as it sits now weighs 2100lbs and i still plan to remove more weight from it to get it to at least 1900lbs as you might be thinking the car is completely gutted not streetlegal no lights nothing. The car will have the suspension set up with slicks and skinnies in the rear. The mods it will have be ported turbo and ex. manifold, o2 eliminator with open exhaust, mbc set at 20-22 psi on race gas, small fmic and so on. I will not run nitrous in it though.I have tried using those horspower calculators and they say that in a 1900 lb car youll need 230 hp at wheels i know those hp calculators arent accurate. But its seems to me that it should be possible since the car will be really light. What do you guys think?

Good luck with that but if you are really serious about going fast you would follow a list of modifications that are proven to work that are listed on an accepted DSM website  .

Is there any reason you are not trying to keep the car street legal and instead just raising horsepower. Also, IMO 11's on a FWD is tough in general and without some serious mods or tuning ability I do not see your 14b running 11's.

Okay, i do know what mod list to follow i just did not want to type it all.The reason i dont want to keep it street legal is because when I bought the car it was already stripped so i just finished gutting it and i already have a street car its a awd talon. IMO 11's shouldnt be out of reach if the car weighs under 2000lbs.

Not comparing dsms to hondas, but all motor hondas make crap for power the only thing they have going for them is that they are very light. There is a all motor civic hb here where i live and the car puts down 195 hp to wheels and weighs 1900 with him in it and he runs 12.0's all day long. So my theory is if i get the car as light as possible and setup the suspension and run slicks and a welded diff it should be close to 11's if not 11's.

Answered your own question?

I was just giving you my opinion. Maybe somebody else has some insight?

If the car is really 2000, pounds and you had all the mods listed above, you should be able to run some killer times.

With race gas you can get 280 whp out of a 14b. You might want to port the exhuast side out though.

What have you removed to get it to 2100 lbs, and have you actually weighed it, or is that an estimate?

According to the horsepower calculator at DSM.org I got 300 HP out of my 14b. (3200 pounds, 12.8 @ 106.5 mph) So if you are using the same calculator, plan on more than 300HP for those mods. I think you can do it. Since it's a racecar you could set up a wheelie bar to keep the front end planted. Ever see the pro drag FWD cars? Pretty cool stuff!

I have actually weighed the car. It still had the gas tank all the lights and some wiring inside. Now it has none of that no lights work pulled out all the wiring that i wont need and I started cutting stuff that i didnt need inside, oh and no gas tank gonna run a 1 gallon fuel cell up in front.

300whp can be made on a 14b. A freind of mine was able to make somewhere in the neighborhood of 280whp with only a K&N, exhaust, SAFC, porting, and a lot of tuning on C16. I think he is turbospoolinside on this site.

Power will not be your limitation. You should trap for 11's no problem on a car that light. Traction is going to be toughest.

Good luck to you. Power is easily made on the 14b so long as you have a strong motor and know what the hell you are doing.
