i got a 94 awdtsi 5 speed, and i was wondering when i should switch gears to make the most of it. I noticed that when i redline every gear i land next gear at like upper 4k's rpms, now i think my turbo spools at 3-3,5K if i land that high on the next gear i wouldnt be takin advantage of all the boost time that i get from my turbo.. If i said something ignorant please tell me im new to this and i need to get it right :D so should i switch gears when i feel that my turbo is done for the gear, or should i redline everygear>?

swich when you feel the power run out..actually learn when the power runs out then shift before it happens

if you have a boost guage. watch it one day and see where the boos starts falling off. i know my t-25 starts falling off around 5500 i think.

I usually switch right when the boost starts to fall off. Most times I look at the boost gage, not the tach, but on the 14b it's about 6100 rpm.

yea i have boost gauge i will check when the power drops , i think since my turbo is old and stuff the power drops early...

haha...T-25..

would you mind telling me what turbo you are currently running. it slipped my mind.

dyno your car, shift at the point when the hp starts to fall off

idealy, the gears are designed for the hp, so that the run of the gear starts at the highest torque rpm, and ends at the highest hp rpm... there you go
