My previous best was a 14.5@99, and 14.6@102. All my 60' are like 2.4..blah, so this time i had some nitto 555r's on my stock 16's up front. I dunno if it was the track or what but i didnt even break 14's last night! I had a 2.9 60'...felt like it i was on a wet road in the rain...and then a 2.6, which actually felt pretty good. I realize i just cant launch to save my life, but im kinda concerned with my trap speeds. Before i could easily trap over 100 in third, and around 99-100 if i shifted to 4th. I shifted to 4th both times last night and ran 96 and 97 , bahhh! I noticed on the way home that it wasnt pulling quite as hard, im gonna have a shop check the HG since i was leaking oil real bad when they did my clutch, they think its the HG.(although the leaks did stop). This was all @ 15 psi on 93 pump.
Anyone in the northern MD Southern central PA area that goes to Cecil county drag way wanna help a fellow dsmer learn to drive? I guess that is a joke, but im getting soo frustrated!!! A friend i went with who has never raced be4 and has NO idea how to drive ran a 14.5 with a beat AT 5.0 stang (although he has a k&n and a cobra intake manny), with a 2.2 60'! I want traction!! I just told him to put it in drive and stomp it on the third yellow and he shows me up..agrhh.

I used to run Nitto 555s on my Celica. They are junk dude. I could launch better on my 18s with my low pro street tires then I could with the Nitto 555s on my 16s. I talked to some other people who own those tires and they all said you really have to heat them up to take advantage of them. This is kind of hard to do ofcourse without a true LSD.

The other thing is Cecil is the kind of track where you either nail your launch and get a good 60, you bog and get a crappy 60, or you spin and get a bad 60. There is no happy medium it seems. They dont seem to prepare the track at all with VHT for launching.

Regarding your MPH drop, were you running the same boost both times, what was the weather like before compared to what it is now. The Baro pressure means alot for MPH.

i agree....went from 555's w/ 2.4 best to nitto 450 235's with 2.25 60' with dead shocks and stock suspension

I think you guys don't know how to drive...You have to warm up the nitto DR's real good, (turn the wheel side to side to get both tires spinning if you don't have a lsd.) Once warm you should have no problems getting anywhere from 2.0-2.2 60 ft times..The nittos are far better than any street tire, you just have to know how to drive..

OK shew, i was kinda pissed off there. Although i got a deal, 160$ for a pair including mount and balance. These feel really sticky to the touch, and when i did a little chirp to clean the tires off be4 the line they wouldnt spin, just hopped for a sec. I'll have to try doing a burnout for a change and heating them...but wont the water collect in the tread? I had tht happen once on my 450's...spun into 3rd. But to clear things up these are 225 555r's, drag radials, that im running on the stock 16's. Thanks for the input!

get in the water box rev, and drop the cluth and turn the wheel side 2 side,
it WILL smoke bolth tires, and the car will drift side 2 side

i have a awsome vid of me doing it with 17in momo arrows on it,

well, might as well give it try, thanks man. I'll be heading to the track tommorow, although it's supposed to rain all day, so probably have to wait till next week

let me know how it goes, 1 thing i forgot

some pull the e brake so you stay long enough in the box and get the tires hotter drop the brake while still spining and spin them up to the line to clean them, off

next time i go , i do all this but im not going to pull the brake, as ive learned street tires dont work as well when super hot,

mess with it and see what works for you i pull consistant 2.0 60ft with this good luck

Thanks man...yea ill probably e-brake it. I also noticed (btw it rained friday here :( ) that i drift at the line. I usually hold the brake and then start revving on the 2nd yellow. Im pretty sure this was causing me to rev too high, and i was only slipping the clutch for like 1k, then dropping it. Ive been practicing using the e-brake so i dont drift and slipping through almost all of 1st gear and it feels like a really good launch...seems to make 2nd and 3rd pull harder for some reason. Ill be sure to update when i go friday because it is finally not supposed to rain.
thanx for all the help!:thumb:

are you pulling the e brake at the line??? what ever works for you?

but i was talking about pulling it in the water box, maybe i read your post wrong...

let me know if you get those 60ft's down

tyler

yea i meant in the waterbox...but also holding it up at the line so i dont roll forward. If i just sit i roll forward for some reason, and since i wanna have the engine right on about 3k, i need that foot to be on the gas, so i use the ebrake to keep from drifting.
