In a FWD it all depends on how well you can drive (and what year is his z28??) If he's 2004 or older then you have the mods to take his IF ITS TUNED...... and IF YOU CAN HOOK UP... it's a long shot in a traction limited FWD to run the 1/8th mile, hell, mine never stopped spinning till past the 8th mile on a similar turbo

4th gen f-bodys stopped in 02..

In stock form a ls1 fbody especially auto is easily a low 13 second car. Being that this is only 1/8 you are already at a huge disadvantage with a fwd car. I'd say get some seat time and see what it does and then take a gamble.

Get some good tires and it would be race. I ran mid 12's @ 118 guest driving a 2g FWD with ET streets, big 28, long route Greddy FMIC, nothing really special except race gas and good tuning.
Just hope the Z28 doesn't have a nitrous shot and drag radials. He will probably have RT advantage with the auto. What kind of lights can you cut?

Thaks for the feedback guys I have comp stage 1 camshafts as well forgot to say that. His car is stock I think he has cold air intake but no nitrious or slicks. So I should try to find a track with a 1/4th and get some practice in we are both starting drivers with no track experience.

Agreed... this will probably end up being a driver's race. If the f-body in question is a 98-02 (i.e. LS1) it'll take some work. If its an older one (93-97) You'll have more of a chance. I raced an LT1 car a few weeks back, and had him by a second but the end of the 1/4. (Did not launch the car at all, so he had me off the line, but caught him by the 1/8th. I ran a 13.7 to his 14.7) That might give you an idea for the older LT1 cars.

ok,I was a little off on my chevy build dates ( never been into them though, i had a rustang) anyway.. you see what you're working with here. THe thing about both the fox body mustang and the F body camaros is that a hundred different shops raced and built them and now the one thing to make them really quick is a good set of rear end arms/bars/links (whatever you call them in each case)

A 1.6 60foot time is damn impressive on a talon/eclipse in most cases, but get an 89 fox body, put some gears in the rear and get some good suspension and tires and the thing will pull 1.6 or better all day long on a mainly stock engine (just chassis upgrades)

Better make sure what he DOES and DOESN'T have in his car since you don't know too much about it... V8's are where sleepers were born and i've come across a lot of fast but plain looking F-bodys and mustangs in my time..properly setup they can put a 200 dollar ass whoopin on you fast which they then use to refill that hidden 200 shot of N20, or what have you

Lots of local kids and adults constantly challengeme to "run em" but being that parts aren't cheap (plus in most cases i know ican take them) I always throw out a friendly "lets make it interesting and put 150 bucks on it" MOst people that aren't sure or can't be totally certain about what you can do will not take the challenge (i do it to get little kids to quit wasting my time when i don't even feel they're worth the ethanol i'd burn to show them how slow they are) Plus as i said, parts aren't cheap, if i'm gonna risk breaking something i wanna know i've got some loot coming to help foot the bill...remember, confident (and stupid) people alike will put money on an "unknown race"(having not seen the other car in action) at this point you need to figure out if you're A.) Smart and about to make somemoney........ or....B.) over confident and sadly slow for your parts combo and about to be taken to the bank by Mr.F body

^^
Agreed.

The car I ran was a stock Camaro. And with such a vast aftermarket for them, and how well they respond to bolt-ons... make sure you know what he has.

And those stock ls1s love the shot, we used to spary my buddies old ls1 trans am with 175 shot and he was consitinly running 11.8s, put 4.56s in the rear and mt et streets and droped to 11.0s( i think), stock exhaust with no cats, stock converter, all was fun till the trans turned to mush LOL. thats when we put a trb400 and converter in the car, then she was 10.6s.at around 126mph or so
