T25 Gsx vs. 2011 camaro SS
Ok so me and my mom have been arguing about who will win this year when the drag strip.. i have a 95 gsx with the stocker t25 and have denso 550's afc neo wally 255 that are waiting to be put on and tuned. And my mom has a 2011 camaro SS 6 speed bone stock everything even exhaust and intake..
She keeps arguing with me that she will smoke me at the track when it opens up and i just really believe that i will run right with her if not beat her by maybe a 10th of a second.
What do you guys think? will she beat me or could i run with her pretty good?
Im expierienced at the track and am a pretty good driver ( 14.4 at 95 with a 2.1 60ft in my stock 97 gst that i had before the gsx) I just want to run the stock turbo for a couple weeks to see what i can really push her too, i have a 20g setup ill be buying in a few months of a friend.
I just thought it would be kinda interesting in what you guys would think will go down when we race. Lemme know what you think!

1/4 mile time on a stock Camaro SS is about a 13.1@110, not sure if you'll be able to beat that with a T-25.

Good luck with low 13s on a 14b if you still have to ask these questions. It's not hard by any means but it seems as though you really have no idea what it will take.

550's/AFC/FP are pointless with the stock wheezing hair dryer, since you can run around 18psi on the stock rewired FP.
That being said, if you launch good, you will probably smoke her. Even if the stock car can do low 13's, thats with a professional driver.
Either way, have fun, and if she spanks you... wait till you get the 20G and return the favor.

Its very possible. I ran a 13.2 with SD and water/meth injection, 2.5" turbo back as well(everything else was stock) My buddy with a 2011 5.0 ran a 13.8 and that's a high 12 sec car. Its all about the driver, If ## mom can drive shell have you beat. You will get her off the line. No doubt about that. Shell MPH like no other though so you need to try do what you can to not loose breath in the top end. Hard to do with the t25 but im sure there is something you can do

Short story here, I apologize if it turns into a long read.
I was in the tech lanes back in 2010 and, sure enough, an older gentlemen had brought his brand new orange Camaro SS out to see what it could do in the quarter-mile. I overheard him talking about what his plans were on his first pass, basically that he was taking off traction control because it slows the car down. Great idea but poor execution, he took the rear quarter-panel into the wall before he made it passed the 60ft. That wasn't the end of the day for him, however, the fastest pass I saw him make was a high 13, like a 13.8 just over 100mph.
I don't know how well of a driver your mom is but, I put my money on experience not horsepower. Now, having a t-25 on there with those mods I really doubt you'll see anything faster than a 14.5 but maybe you'll get luck and your mom won't know how to drive.

That's an awesome story! I thought it was going to be one of those, "old guy was so shocked I beat him with a four banger" stories.
Makes a good point too. OP: Maybe your mom won't be raping you after all.

Races are won and lost those first 60ft, if you're racing heads up, get a better reaction time, and launch like an AWD should she'll have a hard time reeling you in in the whole shot.
Bench racing is worthless so, until you race, we're all just blowing smoke. I see threads like this pop up every once and awhile yet I never see the end result, be sure to post those, please.

I'm just yanking your chain (albeit a bit too hard and at the expense of everyone from the Mountain State). I, myself, look forward to the day that my daughter spanks me at a rallycross. You can have your revenge then.
ps. you don't need no stinkin' 1G to fight yer battles for ya; just get a bigT28 and do it yourself

I know he was asking about Camaro's, but I was at the local 1/8mi down here in Southern IL, and there was a new 5.0 mustang here, and it made me very sad. It was an auto, and running 7.70's at 95ish mph. It was on street radials too. It looked pretty stock other than a few minor bolt ons. I'd expect the Camaro to not be too much off that.
I really hope that isn't the norm....

That's a good idea..You could swap your turbo for a BigT28 and she'll never know it visually..That would really give her a run.

Without reading all of the replies all the way through, can your mom drive (has she been to the track with the SS before)? Seen too many times the people with 6 speeds spin off the line or miss a shift etc. I'd say you have a really good chance if you have a good clean pass. If she had an auto, you'd be screwed...

Haha this is an awesome thread and your mom is super cool!
Good luck man! Just remember not to bet anything like laundry for a month or cooking dinner for a month, because if you lose then you're screwed!
