last night i was out at the sacramento raceway and got to do a total of three runs... the best i could hit was a 15.423 @ 92.760 w/ a horrible r/t of 1.242 and a 60 ft of 2.374.... but also note, on this run, i missed second gear... my other runs were 15.449 @ 94.142, r/t @ .902, 60ft @ 2.554 & 17.417 @ 90.551, r/t @ .830, 60ft @ 2.821.... on the 17.417 run, i had the best r/t but i missed second like 3 times, it just wouldn't go in.... so considering these runs, do u guys think i could muster a 14.8-14.9 e.t.? this was also the first time at the track for me.....

yea, i know.... when i did the 15.423 run, i had a good launch... and even though i missed second, i still did slightly better than the 15.449, which i kinda bogged on the launch... that just shows how important the lauch is....

Besides more power, the important things for getting low ET's are a good launch and nailing down each shift, with the 1-2 shift being most important. Practice shifting quickly. Don't smoke the tires off the line.
I was at Sacto last night, too. What car do you drive?
I was in the grey Talon AWD running in the domestic lane.

Thanks! I was hoping to touch 12's, but my pocketlogger crashed and I was tuning blind. I had to settle for 13.1
I'd also check the shift linkage to make sure it's adjusted perfectly, get some stiff shifter bushings like the kit RRE sells, and check the clutch adjustment to make sure it engages high enough off the floor. I always move my seat up to make it easier to reach the clutch and shifter. Keep practicing, and good luck!

how do you check if linkage is adjusted perfectly ? :(

check out www.vfaq.com/mods/shifter3.html
or if you just want to get a quick look, pull up the cloth cover from around the shifter, shift through the gears and check to see if the tranny goes into gear just before the rubber stoppers hit the stops. When it's in gear and you let go of the shifter there should be about 1 -2 mm gap between the rubber stopper and the stops, plus that gap should be even.

sounds like your 60's could be better...But i have a quick plug please check my sig since you guys live around here;) good luck with the 12s too pneumo...

i think part of it may be that your not choosing the correct shift points. thats is somethign you'll have to figure out in your own, but it can make a world of differenct to the tune of .5 or so seconds.

get those launches down. my best is a 2.22 on low pros...take everything out of the trunk.

rev up and down btwn 2-3K's then slip the clutch and feather both the gas and the clutch to keep traction. once you lose traction, its over....you wont get under a 15.

go practice launching ....theres that one very fine point right before wheelspin where you feel like your pulling like a mo-fo. even thou this feels good dont be tempted to go WOT. racing a FWD takes alot of self control.

on a stocker turbo, shift a grand or 2 before redline in 3rd or else the acceleration will die. i trap better when i run thru 4th....but then again i ahve a 2g so i dunno
