Ok I know this is a bit late but I had my 2nd trip to the track last weekend.

My best run looked like this:

reaction: .3867
60ft: 1.9300
330ft: 5.8657
1/8 ET: 9.1035
1/8 mph: 76.91

1/4 ET: 14.2291
1/4 mph 95.28

What do you guys think? I want to get in the 13s next time I go. This was also with a 14b seeing its last days.So I'm getting a fresh one and going this weekend to see if I can get into the 13s.Any suggestion.THanks

What rpm are you launching at? A 1.9 isn't bad, but if you get that down to a 1.8 you'll be in the 13's and even better if lower. I didn't look through your mod list but I'm going to assume you don't have a stutter box. My suggestion is try getting to the line and staging, now don't worry about the reaction time as it means nothing to your time, and pay attention to your rpm gauge, get it steady between 5300-5600rpms and slip the clutch out to launch, when you fell it grabbing slam the trouble maker down and go. This is probably the toughest thing to learn, is how fast/slow to slip the clutch, too fast and you'll bog, too slow and you'll be smelling clutch for the rest of the day, not to mention significantly decreasing it's life. From there you have to hit your shift points well. For the 1-2 shift it's almost impossible to watch your rpms so you have to do it by feel, for the rest of the shifts you want to shift at or near 6500-6700rpms depending on how your car feels. It's all about practice, you also want those shifts to be fast and smooth.

Also it's of the utmost importance to ensure you have no boost leaks before you go to the track, and a fresh set of plugs is always best.

Well my mods are fmic, mbc set at 15psi, 14b, k&n filter, turbo back 3" exhaust with high flow cat,rc 550cc injectors and tuned with safc.Ive gotten better and better at the launching and slipping the clutch not just dumping it. I was launching around 5300 to 5500rpm.Should I be doing better with these mods or do I just need to get more seat time which I know practices makes better. Thanks for the advice.

Well since you have bigger injectors, you should turn up the boost, subtract less fuel from the fuel controller and use race gas. If you can drive good I feel that a good time for your car on pump gas would be low-mid 13's. For example, I had two massive boost leaks on my car at the TB ports, and the fuel controller adding fuel the first time I ever went to the track. I ran a 15.2 @ 89 mph. It takes much practice patience. So dont expect to run amazing times your first time out. It takes year to get better and sometimes its only marginal

I tend to agree with the post above mine about tuning/turning up the fuel. Just watch for knock and keep those fuel trims around 100%.

Also I'm going to "assume" two things, one is that you're full weight, the second is you have an upgraded fuel pump in there.

There is more in the car with your current setup. The most important thing to consider first is all the routine maintenance stuff. How are the plugs/wires, boost leak situation, tires, etc...The car has to be running well before you're going to get everything out of it.

The 14b being on it's last leg might be a big part of the equation too, throw a good one on there. IMHO, from knowledge from people who have gone far on the 14b, shift points are a major part of the equation. You're 60ft will come with time, but making quick shifts within the powerband are extremely important to lowering your times on the 14b. As I said in my first post somewhere around 6500, feel the car out, if you pay attention you can feel power starting to drop by a certain rpm, shift right before that drop.

The 13.6 I ran was missing 4th gear and at 14psi on the 14b on a somewhat lightened 1g, this is mainly due to the things above as were suggested to me by Phil Beers. Keep at it and practice! 13's are right around the corner.

Yeah...definitely what the guys above say....for sure.....you've got the right mods......throw 17-18 psi at it and power will jump.

Spend less money on mods, more time on driving. This is the part that many people miss. Spend $400 dollars on getting to the track as much as possilble, rather than $400 on parts.

Make sure the car is in tip-top tune up condition. As SBstar said, plugs, fresh before every track outing. Newer plug wires. Make sure injector seals are not brittle...........the SMALL things that make the BIG difference.

Good luck hitting that 13. I guarantee, all of a sudden, it will be EASY for you to run your 13's...............it's all about self(once the car is reliable and tuned.):thumb:

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I might as well upgrade to a 16g. And yea it was only my second time at the track so I guess I got a little excited. My first time I was running 14.8s. Ill just have to keep on practicing hopefully Ill get there. Thanks for every ones advice I will definitely take it:D
