should i take off my sway bars ! whats the pros and cons of driving on the street and did they hurt or help track performance. i am used to driving mustangs on the street without them.

keep them. they reinforce your chassis and make it handle better. i would actually recommend upgrading them. :D

Not at all necessary. What your used to is only for aiding weight transfer to the rear of the car (RWD). No good for fwd and not needed for awd.

well my car is fwd and i know that the extra weight removed couldn't hurt i just wonder if it will hurt or help my strait line performance. the car is stiff so i don't think it will hurt much on the street since i don't fly through curves.

I thought you can turn right-left and left-right faster, less roll and helps hold all 4 tires on the road.. I'd say keep them/upgrade them.. I've got the Rm Racing bars really nice

edit technically they don't help straight line but if you ever need to swerve quick you might want them... I had to swerve to avoid an accident the other day almost totalled my car... your choice

Take a turn doing 90 and your going to slide out
Take a turn doing 40 and hit a pothole and your going to slide out
Most needed for inspections now
They are there for a reason

And not only for RWD they are there to stop your car from leaning on the suspension going around corners.

one think that's gonna benefit your straight line performance is upgrading your front and rear motor mounts (solid ones.. i know someone wpo makes em!). :D sides would be a good idea also. worry about wheel hop and traction before you worry about weight.

ha yeah anyways...about the original topic of your swaybars and retaining them or not....removing the front sway bar would if anything hurt your straightline performance due to taking weight of the front tires during the launch....any of the above posted "benifits" are simply not true. Besides a little less weight there is simply no point in removing your swaybars.

I had a few mustangs when I was younger and took the front bar off and would get better weight transfer for sure.
I've never done it on any of my dsms. The awd seems to get the job done. My 1gs have all seemed to get pretty good weight transfer as is, any more would probably be detrimental to front traction.

On this subaru I used to drive the sh** out of on/ off road, and after the sway bar end link broke we took the sway bar off (front). After that it didn't handle nearly as well off road, or in tight corners. Also, got very loose in corners and was unpredictable.

? why so negative yeah they work just as good as the ones for $100.000 i made mine for $17.00 !

just was throwing it out there in case you didn't know! :D trying to help out man!

as far as swaybars... with this cars there are NO REAL BENEFITS to removing the swaybars. it would hurt way more then it helps. This is not a foxbody mustang or a RWD muscle car. These chassis need all the stiffening up they can get. :D:D

^ what he said. And thats ONLY at the strip. Would never recommend taking them off on the street. They make emergency maneuvers possible.
