Hope you all dont mind me asking this question on this forum but...

I have a 2g FWD and I raced a 1g AWD Tsi about a month ago...
He took me on launch by about half a car, and ended up beating me by about a whole car's length. Back then I was still on my T25.

Now since I've upgraded to the AGPT28 turbo. When I raced the Tsi I was running mid to high 14s. Now i'm running low 14s - high 13s.

Tsi Mods:
TurboXS BOV
3" catback

My Mods:
On Profile, but basically AGPT28, intercooler pipes, exhaust, mbc..etc.
And I am planning on putting on a new set of NGK BPR7ES.

The Tsi is running 15lbs of boost on his 14b, and i'm running 17lbs on my T28.

I'm racing this Tsi again this weekend... do you all think I should have the edge now, with the new toys I have?

Just wondering what other DSMers think...
Thanks in advance! :thumb:

Let a LOT of air out of the tires, and get some of the little rubber blocks from Auto Zone, Oreilly's, or wherever to put in the rear springs to stiffen them up a little. Oh yeah, Get there early and let everythign cool down good and as soon as he shows up insist you start the race immediately. Just some thoughts.

turboSpyderGS T- good advice, those are really good tips that will help u gove a better edge to the edge i think u mite already have. If u lost by a mere car length and snapped on a new turbo along with other toys, u should be beating him in this race, also try practicing ur launch to gain traction and reduce wheel spin, ok have fun, good luck, i think ya got him on this one! :D

actually i was hoping someone would mention this. See now my nearest 1/4 strip is an hour away, which is were i can get c16. I think this will end up being a street race here in town, so my best bet is some type of octane boost.

We do have an airport... do you all think there is some type of fuel available at an airport that would work?

OR... is there a specific octane booster that I should pick up?
Have you all ever heard of Turbo108? Its supposed to be a race fuel concentrate.. and I can pick that up at the local auto parts store.

Anything else???

Sounds like you should beat him pretty good by the mods you've done, but has he modded too? If not I think it shouldn't be that close of a race, you should have him. Make sure you have a good lunch, and don't completely drop out the clutch let it slip out some so you won't spin as much. Let us know how it turns out.

i think his car is pretty much the same. i think the only difference is that he didnt have the 3" before and now he does. But i talked to the guy its not a 3" all the way. Its 3" from cat then he just put a tip.

Anyway, ill be sure to let u all know how it goes.
any other ideas? thanks :)

I looked at your profile and I noticed you did not do any fuel work to the car or atleast you dont mention it.. I hate to burst your bubble but the difference between the T25 and AGP28 is not a full second difference without doing any fuel work. The only difference is you will hold boost, you see 3 or 4 tenths without changing anything fuel wise.

BTW, Im not trying to be a dick, im just telling you not to get your hopes up from someone whose already been down the road your on.

Go to the airport and buy gas yes it will work. And it will work better than racegas at the strip because airplane fuel is filtered 3 or 4 times more than race gas.

ok kewl.. which one do I ask for? heh...

and will it mix well with the gallon or so of 93 oct pump gas that is left in my tank before i put in the airplane fuel?

thanks

At an airport you'll find 100LL or maybe 80LL, its pretty self explanatory, get the 100, LOL. If you're extraordinarily lucky your airport will still be pumping 115/145. btw 100LL means 100 octane low lead, so watch for your o2 sensors to foul.
