Went to New England Dragway in NH today (started down to Island but heard the weather and turned around to go to NED). Got all of 2 runs in. Crowded, and as soon as I got there, they shut the track down for 1 1/2 hours (accident then lunch break). Was nervous about new clutch set-up so I took it very easy on first launch and shifts. Ended up with a 14.1! Christ, possibly breaking into 13's already?

Yup, next run hit it a little harder and ended up with a 13.935@ 100.28!

Pretty stoked about it. Triple digit trap. Already hit my goal and I wasn't even working it all the way.

Lined up again and waited but it was 3:00 and I saw the sweeper come out, so figured I'd head home (3 hour trip, LOL).

I would say that was my best 2 run day!

again congrats. Now if you plan on going down to Island or E-town for a few runs lemme know so I can come out and see this beast run (and maybe get in a couple runs myself)

Good job Mark. It's good to know MSnS-E is living up to its reputation. Since you are N/A, do you mind posting your .msq file for those of us still running a fairly stock fuel setup?

Damn, Paul, I piss myself off sometimes  . I got a bunch of things that I gotta post up and the msq. was one of them. Gotta get it off my laptop and post her up.

My profile list is up to date (I think that's everything :coy: ). Just had to change over the Jeep TB to the MP TB. I only did it because it looks "prettier" not because of performance.

Cory, E-town was one of my choices but I didn't go down there because I thought I wouldn't get enough runs in :p . Would love to run with you sometime down there.

Thanks for the congrats guys,

Yeah seems people never get in a lot of runs there, although that one guy has been getting a ton of runs in at Island recently, which come May will be even closer for me than E-town, I only live about ~40 minutes away so I'd be game for hitting that up whenever.

I've been putting off going with the Evo b/c I don't want to break anything but I've been thinking of going and taking it easy off the line and just seeing what kinds of times I run and more so what I trap to compare it with after a few mods.

Hopefully by July I'll have the Eclipse in good enough shape to run, I'd like to break 13's with the stock bottom end and if it blows before hand I've still got a DD :sneaky: Can't wait to attempt to change the HG on my own either I'm gonna be like this :D or like this   :sosad: in a very short amount of time once I start ROFL

I was wondering how long it would take you to dip into the 13's. I'm glad there's somebody that's willing to stick to a no turbo/no spray system and prove to everybody that even the 420a can run some great times if built/tuned correctly. I bet it feels great to know that your car can beat TSI's or GSX's. It'd be wonderful if someday I could make my car run even close to the times you are running. Congrats on the great times and thanks for being a great inspiration for us N/T owners.

Yep, thanks, it worked for me. I'll have to make a few adjustments since I'll be running the internal igniters, then I'll post my .msq when I get around to it.

Yeah bullet, how much dough did you fork out to get your car hitting 13s? i want to know how much my wallet is gonna take a hit

Hey Bullet, you should post up in the New England forum when you decide to hit up NE dragway again. As soon as my car is finished i would love to make a few runs but i have noone to go with. Plus, i would love to see an NA eclipse tear a mustang a new one.

That is one helluva a good question. Not counting the cost of my car, I've probably spent around $5k.

NOW WAIT! ROFL Don't freak out yet, LOL. There's a couple of points to make here. First off I have spent money on R+D (like the 420a head that I had to trash to find out where I wanted to port. Or the two - or was it three?- intakes that I bought and I didn't like etc.). Some stuff I bought and I don't need now (AF/X ECU. Better off with the MSnS. The meagan downpipe; I designed my own). I also hit the dyno alot more than I normally would like to have. I did that so I could verify the power changes on things that I did (for the most part, they were all positive). Plus, I paid a tuner to fine tune the MSnS because I wanted to be sure that my inexperience was taken out of the equation.

Possible cost for an NA in the 13's? Maybe less than 3k. NOW WAIT! ROFL Don't get excited yet, LOL. You gotta know that I do virtually all of my own work. I pay for machine shop fees and that's about it. I buy many of my parts used. I built my engine to my specs. I ported and polished to what I thought was best. I did my tranny work, found the mix and match design for my clutch, did the redesign of my cooling system etc with my own labor (though I did have to break down and pay Terry to make me a MSnS ECU - which he did at a great deal - but those damn circuit boards are just way too small for my old man eyes WTF ).

So what's it gonna cost? Well......um...I guess I don't really know :D .

Link16; I'm sorry to hear about your decision. I guess I should have talked to you more :p . Seriously, good luck with the turbo project.

dsmclipse97; I'm hoping to get up there for import wars. But you know how it is. You don't know if you're going until the last minute. Oh yeah, on my 14.1 run, I did line up against a sharp looking black mustang. He saw my ass end at the finish line :sneaky:

Thanks again mods for leaving this here for that little bit.

Nice bullet...sounds like you had your hands full with that project...ill most likely break down and turbo...but i was deffinitely curious about how to get an n/a eclipse running good times. thanks for the info!

MARK - CONGRATS MAN!! You ARE THE MAN! :thumb: :rocks:

Like I said, if you EVER go to Englishtown, PLEASE let me know. I would be more then happy to meet you there and give er a run! Hell, maybe even Corey will come out too! :thumb:

You bet it does. Up to more than 10K RPM.

That doesn't sound good for the motor, though. I wouldn't take it past stock specs, I always thought they did that for a reason. Kinda defaults the feature IMO.

Is that safe for the motor though? Wouldn't it be overworking itself?

Sure... I wouldn't take the stock engine sitting on my garage floor, with 120,000mi. on it past 7K RPM. But the tank sitting in my car right now... the one I personally built and had balanced by some of the leading machine shops in the area... yeah, that one I'd push up to 10K RPM.

That's one of the reasons I chose to personally build my own engine and not go with the stroker kit. I knew it was going to be pushed hard, past what the original specifications limited it at.

Modifying these small FWD cars is a numbers game. Lots of low end torque isn't going to help much, especially considering traction. But lots of high end power, with my little 2.0L screaming through 9,000 RPM... that's where I'm going to make up lost time on the 1/4 mile.

EXACTLY!!!!

That is why i did not strock my motor. the 2 liter is going to make enough tourqe. but it might not be enough for a BIG turbo soooo ill bumb the red line up.
I plan on tking mine to 9k maybe might bak it down to 8.5k but we will see

It sounds interesting from what i read so far ....might get one for mt daily driver.

Is there a link that i can read more about this MSns ECU ????
