Okay, just wondering. Everyone slips their clutch on a launch right? So typically that
equals no peeling out, just rolling.. right? Now is it just me or does it seem that if you slip your clutch, and peel out just a little bit, then let off making sure you hook, and floor it again you get off the line faster? Or is the Burnt rubber just a waste? Kinda hard to explain but you guys know what I'm talkin about

1. Most people slip their clutches because its easier on the tranny and usually faster.

2. When you hear the slightest squeal your tires are at their limit of traction and that means you are using every bit of tire you paid for so thats what you want.

I think I understand what you are saying and I think that it is just an illusion of faster acceleration because of the jerk when the tires catch. The only way you can prove or disprove what you are saying is at a drag strip with your 60ft time.

I slip the clutch from 4k launch. The tires will spin no matter what, it's better to spin the tires then to bog because you didn't slip the clutch fast enough. I spin the tires in first, not going wot, shift into second at about 5200 so I don't sping them even more and second gear I hook up. I get 2.1 60ft times on street tires. If you bog, you will loss momentum that will carry you into second gear and makes your 60ft time pretty bad. Start luanching at 3k, ten work your way up till you find that RPM that you can use to launch w/o bogging or spinning your tires. I suggest, don't luanch over 4k, you will just sit there and spin the tires and not move worth a damn. Oh, and when street racing, the pavent is usually has more grip so you don't need to launch so high.

Without spinning the tires I average 2.5 60', but with spinning my average is 2.4 with a 2.3 best time.

Wow i thought my 2.2 60' was bad. i slip the clutch from 3500 slightly until the car starts to move...its hard to explain but try to imagine a line like this:
......................... -----
.................... -............... -
................ - ..................... -
............. - .......................... -
----------- ............................ ---------

When i slip the clutch at the launch...the car starts moving, or going up the "hill". the top of the "hill" is the perfect balance between slipping and bogging..when the car is moving as fast as it can. if you slip too much you will bog, and fall off the hill. At least thats how i think of it..i know its wierd but with practice it works.

Dont look at the periods, only the dashes...it looks fine until i post it then it looks all messed up

I would NOT reccomend launching in 2nd Gear. That will place too much stress on the clutch and the entire driveline. Please dont post things like that unless you state reasons why you think it is an advantage.
