Tonite was my first time ever, Racing on a race track. I put in some 118octane gas, and went out for my first run ever. I got a 13.6 and only improved from there, Each time, I went lower and lower. I had to stop because the nite was over.
I turned my boost up from 17lbs but it didn't raise for some reason, (Stupid homemade mbc I suppose.) I managed to get a best of:

R/t : .493
60' : 1.862
330: 5.508
1/8 : 8.427
MPH: 84.45
1000: 10.963
1/4 : 13.092
MPH 106.05

I have stock injectors, stock cams, stock turbo etc etc. The mods are in my profile. I have nothing to tune with yet either. I'm really happy being i'm almost in the 12's, My first time ever at the track. I was spinning all 4 tires all the way through first gear though.

Do I have any room for improvement the way it is right now, I don't know much about any of the numbers or what anything really is except the 1/4 time and mph. I'm really new to racing on a racetrack, But I sure did have a blast!!!! It was the most fun I ever experienced with my car, It definatly beats racing anywhere else, If you know what I mean. I beat everything I raced tonite except a non streetlegal 12.6 flat black beast of a truck.

On the way home I guess my boost did go up, And I hit fuel cut. I was at 22psi , And my dipstick poped out and I almost went through the windshield along with my girlfriend. It really scared me bad.. I lowered the boost to 18-19psi now until I run the almost half tank of 118 octane gas I have left, Out. It does smell really good though on the street. ROFL

Thanks for reading, Sorry if it's long.. I get excited fast I guess!! :) :p

You've got a nice setup in that thing, and the 14b can definitely pull its own weight if its in good shape.
A nice engine and alot of ported shit is very beneficial on these cars, moreso than slapping on a 50 trim and big injectors on it.

Very nice times.

Yes you do have some room for improvement, knock a tenth or 2 off your 1/8th mile time and you will have a solid 12 second slip :thumb:

Ya the turbo has 70,000 miles on it now, The car was owned by a 50 year old lady, Since it was brand new. So it was most likly never even boosted on ROFL . I just found out today though that my 4 exhaust manifold to turbo bolts, were loose, So it was a big leak. My exhaust manifold studs were also loose!! It pulls alot harder now! Hopefully I can break 12's soon!!! :)

Nice job! I had a buddy go low 12's on his 14b w/fmic. Just think, upgrade to a 50 trim and you will be in 11's in no time.....

Nice slip... but yeah maybe if the night would have been a few runs longer you could have got into the 12's...

But its a nice time for a stock turbo/injector...

My next mods if I was you will be some kind of tunning, and a better boost controller (hallman) you dont want your boost not set right.

BTW: according to your vehicle profile, how many balance shafts did you had before you rebuild??? :p LOL! :) just kidding ya...

Ya my previous car with 680cc injectors, t04b, etc etc.. It was really slow for what it had.. I guess it had to be tuned with better equipment :( That's why i'm trying to max everything out before I upgrade :)

props for utilizing what you have, and props for low 13's 1st time out. You can definetely get better times. If you're spinning off the line than you should have no problem pulling a 1.7 60ft. Get a gm maft setup and injectors and you'll run low 12's no problem. I run 25psi on my 14b all the time so don't be afraid to push that f*cker either. If you still have the 3 bolt rear end look out for that breaking when you run solid 12's. Outside of that you're doing great. Remember also - tuning is everything.

That same crap happened to me at the track too, by the end of it they were all loose (turbo bolts), and it started to piss rain after only getting one run in after tightening them.

Sweet! :thumb:

Now the only problem is that you're hooked on racing... :D

BTW, what kind of hoss-pressure do you guys figure he's making?

Ya I'd like to run again but i'd rather get some more mods to runs consistant 12's. How do I manage better 1/8 mile times? Should I launch at a lower rpm, To help control the awd tire spin all the way through first? I was launching at 6500rpms slipping the clutch out. I used 4 gallons of 118 octane gas, And after a few tanks of my normal 94 octane gas, I can still noticably smell the 118 octane gas smell... It smells could, But how is this able to happen? My buddy said he was a few cars back and he said it smelled like a race car was going down the road. ROFL Should I get injectors and a maft next? I'm not sure if there is anything else to get before them?

Thanks!

I've found that I never miss 1-2 shifts if I shift at 6500 - I guess it has to do w/ my tranny and clutch setup, but it makes sense since the synchros don't have to work as hard. If you don't have a logger get one and go with the injectors and maft setup - then you can max out what you have before going internal. A decent fmic w/ 2.5" piping is all you need as far as that goes, not really in the know as to what you're using. Try launching at lower rpm's - 5,500 - as wheelspin is a waste of power. I had about 50 passes last year trying to pefect a launch on a 2100 and I only managed one 1.7 sixty foot, as you can do it no prob w/ your clutch.
