Well, I went to the track for the first time this weekend. I landed a best time of...... 15.992, the second one was a 16.444. So, obviously i can't drive worth a #@%#@%#@%#@%, so i was wondering if anyone had any pointers. I tried slipping the clutch out tonight but i can't get the wheels not to spin. Then when i goto second, it bogs a little and then goes strong.

This was on 14 psi, injen intake, hallman mbc, greddy type s on a dejon tool uicp.

I don't have many mods, but i was hoping to break into the high 15's at least

thanks

launch at a lower rpm, and shift at around 5k because the stock turbo sucks.

ok here are my runs:

Run 1
r/t: 1.233
60: 2.775
330: 7.148
1/8: 10.701
mph: 64.30
1000: 13.885
1/4: 16.444
mph: 85.14

Run 2

r/t: 1.023
60: 3.120
330: 7.410
1/8: 10.762
mph: 72.69
1000: 13.615
1/4: 15.992
mph: 94.44

So, any ideas? First run was full throttle, second was trying like 2/3rd throttle. And like i said in the previous post I'm having problems with the sliping thing because once i slip it, the tires just spin

Thanks For the replys

3.1 sec 60', holy #@%#@%#@%#@% what rpms are you lauching at??????

try lauching around 3k and slowing slipping the clutch and easing in the gas at the same time. You might not be able to floor it in first but once your out of first put it to the fllor and keep it there.

knock 1sec off your 60 foot time and you will lower you 1/4 et by 2 secs:D

Your 60 ft times are what's killing your ET's...Your mph is about average for your mods...Get some Drag Radials and some agx's in the rear and crank them to the stiffest setting...Then just work on your 60 ft times and you're good to go...

thanks for the replys

I was launching at 3k too, but that was on the 2.7 60'.
THe 3.1 was me trying not to spin. I'll just have to practice before i go again this sunday.

thanks again

well i went to a track last saturday and went all out takin out one of my headlights for my intake and ran on c16 race gas, my 1st run was 16.439 @92mph!!!.... My car didnt want to get into sec gear, you should have seen a lot of people laugh at me. i challenged a guy laughing at me wit a turbocharged type r and i blew his doors off wit a 13.003 run wit a 1.878 60ft, my third run was with a supra nt and i ran a miraculous 12.969@ 106.669 mph with a 60ft of 1.833... now that was a big difference from my 1st run

hehehe,

yeah i have been practicing them. I'll let you guys know how it turns out on sunday

later

Hey guys

Well, Finally no rain this weekend so i got out to the track. Here are my runs

run 1 run 2

r/t: .627 .627
60: 2.706 2.525
330: 7.033 7.082
1/8: 10.432 10.763
mph: 73.24 70.32
1000: 13.259
1/4: 15.620 16.223
mph: 95.77 92.50

Now here's my question. WHat happened the second run? THe launch felt good and strong, then i hit second and it felt like it spun and it tore through the rpms. Then i shifted to third, it bogged out, and i finished the run.

Does my car have the power to spin second like that with my mods? It has never done it on the street.or did something else happen?

Any help would be apprecited

sounds like you power shifted into 2nd gear and spun through 2nd.. sometimes spinning 2nd is worse then getting a crappy launch.. BTW your 60fts meaning laucnhes are still horrible. You need to practice ;)

Those 1/8 mile times are pitaful..my friend in a STOCK eclipse RS runs a 10.5's all day long and his best was 10.2 you really need to work on your launches..you'll get it sooner or later though..good luck:thumb:
not trying to diss you by the way..atleast you have an awd turbo gotta master those launches though

What's a good 60' time that i need to shoot for? What I'm doing right now is holding at 2500-3000 rpms and just feathering out the clutch while hitting the gas. I only try to go 3/4ths throttle in 1st then punch it when i get to second. Is this the right Idea?

No offense taken man. :thumb: I'd rather have it like that so I know where I need to work on.

Oh btw, the car is fwd, I wish I had AWD now

Thanks for the response

I posted 2.1s a the one time I went to the track with my 99 GS-T with just street tires (Dunlop Sport A2s). I thought that was pretty good with some 80 dollar tires in 16 inch. So without a doubt you have a LOT of practicing to do. Your mph is good for a mid 14 second run if you could grab. I ran a 14.4 with my GS-T @ 95.5 mph. So you should in essence be able to break into the 14s easy with the launch down. :thumb:

Yea just pretend like you are starting from a stoplight just at a higher rpm burn your clutch thats what its there for LOL. I was running Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's and launching at 4200 with ~26psi in the fronts. My stock clutch hates me and I have bricks for tires now no more racing till I get a clutch. Keep practicing and have fun. Later.

The average person can run 60ft in 2.5 seconds.... so just think about that next time you go to the track and turn your 60ft... haha!

really...that seems fast for a RS..considering that 10.2 is in stock GS-T times..

No, he is AWD with not that many mods. It takes a lot more HP than that to spin through 2nd in an AWD. He just needs to practice AND, find out where his car is happiest. With a T25 and stock exhaust, he is going to run out of steam up top. I know I did with my 14B and stock exhaust. It still falls off some with a full exhaust. He needs to be shifting around 5500, launching around 4000-4500 and practice, practice, practice.

Ok guys, for the last time, I am FWD ;) . Over the winter I'm going to try and get a better set of tires also. The cooperfields or whatever was on the car really sucks traction - wise

Thanks for the responses

Oh, missed that OMG Everything else besides the spinning through second applies.

yeah, I'm going to try launching at a different rpm. I have the whole winter to practice :D

also dumping it out at high rps is gonna trash your fly and clutch dude, be careful if your gonna run that hard, its not a formula 1 its an econo box, just a thought but you might wanna pull out easy then jump on it, the 1/4 isnt as easy as "green=go"
