Well, I decided to get out and find a few races since its been awhile and the weather was nice. I drove around for awhile and just as I was about to give up on finding someone and go home a 2004 Mach 1 drives by with a nice sounding aftermarket exhaust. I was like "Oh yeah, finally!" I follow him up a few lights and he just doesn't want to go from a dig. I'm thinking he just isn't in the racing mood and he was a older guy with his wife so I was about to give up on him until he pulled onto the highway. I said "Hmmm, highway run eh? Follow him on and sure enough he wants to go from a roll. We slow down to about 30mph and both get on it. I grabed a 1 car lead on him from the get go and held it strong all the way to 100mph. Then just as I cross the hundred mark he starts to pull on me. By about 110mph he is half a car ahead on me and pulling. I thought, "Damn, strong running Mach 1!" He pulls over and turns out to be really cool. I asked him what was done, he wouldn't tell me exactly what but said he was pushing about 370hp. That made me happy right there. I didn't get school'd by a stock Mustang. Anyways, I told him I was turbo, he gave me props on my car and we were on our way.

Suprised no one has said anything about your thread, but it kinda sounds like a Kill/Street Race story to me.

Cool though. 2004 Mach 1's are nice cars. I pull them 5-6 car lengths from 40-100. Around 135-140 I had one start reeling me back in though.

I have never seen (in person) a 2004 Mach1 do better than 13.88 and the guy had drag radials.

Sounds like you guys had fun :thumb:

Same Here I Raced A Redish Orange One Black Stripe And Black Soiler. I Kicked His Buttt 3 Times On Three Down Shifts. The Guy Didnt Even Want To Laugh Or Look At Me. I Guess Thats Because He Was The First To Rev At Me Plus He Thought I Was A Easy Ricer Kill. Too Bad For Him 4 Was Better Then 8. ;)

mach1s are overrated. i wanted to test drive one and they wouldnt let me.

they then showed me a focus with projectors and i said no thanks and left.

I murdered a stock Mach1 last season at MIR by .5 of a second...and like 6 mph. We were both on street tires and this was when I was running an evo3 16g.

thats because they are a VERY limited production car....I dont see why people idolize those stangs, all they are is pre 2003 cobras with "ram air" and nifty badges.

hmm, mach owns are verrry nice cars... My friends ran a 13.4 bone stock.. Overrated?? No, with intake and exhaust he ran a 12.7 on stock tires... whats it take a dsm do to that? A lot more.

A guy here locally is went a best 11.59@115 NA I think they are really nice cars right out of the box performance wise. They dyno stock around 280 to 290rwhp. The thing you have to remember is that they are really heavy. I don't have the specifics, but i'm sure they are close to what a cobra is (3665). I almost bought one, but decided against it and went with a cobra for my daily instead (I still have the DSM). The only thing I don't like about them from the factory is the wheels haha.

correction... dsms has alot of power behind it. considering its just a 4 banger compare to a gas hungry v8 mach1. which cost about $30,000 gees... and was tested at 14.1 ( somewhere in this area). now a dsm 1g gsx or t runs about $2,000... 2g $5,500 and yes its it does at least low 15s. but throw in another $10,000... and home boi... i dont care what you say about the mach1.. but all i can say is bye bye road kill. oh yea one more thing mach1 guys can uprade too to try and catch up... but he better slow down because the repo man catching up...

You should be fare about how much they cost. In 10 years, like a lot of the cars on here, their price will be significantly lower. besides, your car was in the lower to mid $20k range at one point, its just that you can find our cars for a lot cheaper now since they have depreciated over the years.
but, i still dont like mustangs all that much. -jam
