poor time slips

rev the engine up to around 5k in spikes. at the 2nd yelow let off it a lil and slip the clutch in. thats basically my method.

i delivered pizza in my car for a week and launching got to be cake

my best 60 is a 2.349. not the best, but it was only my 2nd time at the track. that sticky asphalt confuses me.

if wheel spin is crazy off the launch, then launch the car at a lower RPM. you have about 5x more #@%#@%#@%#@% than me and i am running flat 15's. you should easily be mid to low 13's...am i right?

what kinda tires u runnin?

i just got the bf goodrich drag radials....the shop were i get alot of my stuff said the cars should be in the high 12's with trap speeds that high..need more practice i guess??

Yes those traps are 12 secound range. I think what you really need is practice. My method of launching is this rev the engine enough so that it doesn't bog( it really doesn't matter what rpm but I recommend more than about 4500). Next is the most important part. Feather the clutch (don't just dump it) enough to get you rolling. Once your rolling and the clutch is all the way out then you feather the gas pedal. Keep the car pulling if you feel it start breaking loose back out of the throttle some. Don't just let off completely so that the car boggs just ease up on the throttle enough that the wheels stop spinning. It sounds complicated but it's not you just have to feel what the car is doing. Tire selection makes a world of difference to. Drag radials should improve that 60" drastically. My advise is practice, practice, and more practice. Good luck

thanks for the tips..i think i do need alot of practice...just getting frustrated...all that money for 14 sec slips...i know the car is fast its just a matter of driving it to the times its cappable of

Just my opinion but practice on the street because its harder to hook on the street then when you go to the track you'll be able to hook alot better. That's what I do any way. Well I used to steet race alot. Now when I go to the track it's not very hard. I don't even think about it I just do it. I went Sunday night to track and I think my worst 60" out of 6 runs was 2.4 . That also included my pass at 22psi ( mbc is broke and I had to get out of it just after the 60"... When I looked at my boost gauge and saw 22psiOMG ). I smoked first because I wasn't expecting it to pull that hard(22 psi is alot different than 15psi) so I shifted out of 1st early and feathered 2nd a little and then saw the gauge and quit.

Not sure what tires everyone is running but a good 60 ft time for a fwd is a 1.9 okay...not all these 2.4's and such...

Not really, this is only true for Slicks... and Drag Radials.

I'm assuming he was running normall grippy street tires on those 2.7-2.9 60ft runs.... he's got a 109 mph car.. no matter how low in the RPM he launches, as soon as that turbo spools, he's gonna light em up. Practice all you want, your still gonna spin, you just need better tires, those drag radials should help some.

thanks for all the help, the drag radials helped me go from a mid 14 to a low 14 but my 60' is still killing me...341whp to a fwd is just alot to handle...cant wait until friday to give it another shot

can u set the AVCr to run low boost off the bat, then higher boost later?

yeah that is a feature of the avcr but most of the directions are writen in japanese.....i can do everything else i need with it but the "learn gear" feature is pretty difficult....that should help with my 60' but i tend to spin most of the way through 2nd too

I completely diagree. Practice will help alot. Yes tires will help alot to. Street tire or not you still hook better at track. So if you can learn to launch ok on the street you'll launch better at the track. When I launch at the track if I just stomp the pedal when the turbo spools my car will smoke 1st like it's nothing to. So yes driving has alot to do with it especially if your on street tires. Better tires just make it easier to launch. Just because you have drag radials doesn't mean you won't smoke the tires if you just slam it to the floor. He also has alot hp at the wheels so that will make it that much harder. So he really needs to practice. Everybody has there own way of launching some work better than others so it's really a matter of just finding a way that works for you. Tires wil not do all the work for you though.

I think that 2.2 is a decent 60" on street tires. No one ever said a 2.4 was good though. What kind of 60" times is everyone else pulling on street tires? Drag radials do count even though they are a street tire. I,m talking about regular street tires.

wow, who has a 1.9 60 foot on a FWD without slicks, i would like to see that...I thought I was the man when I pulled a 2.2 60 foot on street tires

My suggestion for a good launch is to rev to like 3k and then slowly let the cluctch out to you feel things hook up...took me forever to learn how to launch...good luck:)

First time at the track I got 2,301 60' and second time 2,257 60' with cheap tires, stock suspension, full weight.

I guess that with good street tires (threadwear of 200 or less ) 15psi front 50 psi rear tire pressure, adjustable shocks, ACT2100 or 2600, and an LSD, 1.9 60' would be about right.

also the front tower brace would help keep the front end straight, and energy suspension motor mounts eliminate most of the wheel hop.

Good luck ...

1.886! FWD on BF drag radials.

Who ever says drag radials are not street tires are crazy. They are DOT legal, just becasue they wear much faster than a "standard" tire, does not make them any less of a street tire.

I agree 100%! I've been running the Nitto drag radials for about 6 months now and getting pretty darn good wear out of them. I've definately been rotating the crap out of them to make sure I get good wear. I'm very pleased with them.

Everyone knows that they are street tires and dot legal. When some people want to run street tires they may not willing to replace thier tires that often. So when referring to street tires drag radials may not be the answer because they wear so fast. Yea they are a street tire but not your standard street tire. They are still a DRAG radial and some people can't afford to keep those kinds of tires fresh. A bald tire might be a street tire but that doesn't mean it's safe.
