I went on Sunday this was my first time at the track with the GSX, never went with my old setup.

Well to start things off I thought I blew my head gasket on the way up there when Carltalon and I were playing on the back roads on the way there. I was having some missfiring and some pretty bad counts of knock and was trying to work things out.

When I was in the line to pay to get in. The check in lady noticed I was dumping coolant onto the ground. And sure enough my overflow tank was full and pushing a good amount on the ground.

So I just got a spectators pass and told her that I want to see what happens when I let the car cool down.

Long story short I do have some bubbling in my coolant, but all day, and the entire way home(98 miles) my temps never got above 196. (most of the time it was at 179-183)

So who knows. But Mike (aka: Raptor) ended up talking me into racing. Since after letting it idle for 5-10 minutes and then letting it cool down twice nothing was happening with the coolant so off I went.

I started off with the boost turned down to 18psi and I'm running 92 oct through out all these runs, and started off doing what I said I'd do just ease off the line and then get on it once the clutch was out and then easy shifted in each gear, just to see what would happen with the coolant and temps after a run. (ie: didn't want to get kicked out or make a mess on the track, etc)

started at 1300rpms at the line and rolled into it.

1st Run:
R/T - .068
60' - 2.718
330 - 6.561
1/8th - 9.408
mph89.87
1000 - 11.775
1/4 - 13.776
mph - 110.60mph

After checking the overfloor and the logs the coolant level was the same, and my temps were still 189 at the end of the run. But I was having 3.2 counts of knock, and the car was missing pretty good going down the track.

So John L. (Galant1060VR4) - gave me a set of NGK's that looked like they had about 20 miles on them. So Next run. Basically everyone there was telling me to just stutterbox the launch, etc and get on with racing..

So when the time came I said what the hell.

2nd Run: Still 18psi - Stutter box launched (5750rpms) 17.5lbs/min off the line, dumped the clutch (very minimal slippage if any), no knock from 1-3rd gear, but missing in the top of 3rd and in 4th I got 2.1 counts of knock and missing through all the gear. felt like I hit a major head wind or like my brakes were sticking once I got above 6,000rpms in 3rd and then all of 4th when the missfiring started and the knock started. (hense the low MPH for ET)

R/T - .560
60' - 1.821
330 - 5.214
1.8 - 7.930
mph - 94.17
1000 - 10.203
1/4 - 12.173
mph - 113.35

3rd Run: was going to turn the boost up but, originally they said I couldn't get any more runs in till brackets. But another official walked over and said it was alright. Unfortunetly they were waiting for me up at the lights so I had no time to do anything. This was basically a back to back run. with no cool down.

Stutter box launch - but slipped the clutch and got wheel spin through all of 1st this run, and had over 2 counts of knockup to 4.5 in all of the gears.

R/T - .699
60' - 1.837
330 - 5.296
1/8 - 8.086
mph 92.09
1000 - 10.399
1/4 - 12.419
mph - 115.35

4th Run - was brackets - loaded my 403whp settings just to see if that was the issue and turned up the boost to 20psi, 12.0 dial in.

I was one of mabe 6 imports out of about 150 cars at this event, so the Announcer made fun of me while I was at the line on this next run. Saying my 12.0 dial in was a long shot, High Hopes, Optomistic personality, being an Import, Full street Trim, etc, etc. Long story short the guy next to me broke so I backed off the gas and went 14.4@66mph, R/T was .016 so almost perfect. and 60' was 1.849 so would have been a good run.

5th run after hearing what the announcer said - I had Joe (justrollin) put on my back window.

"Daily Driven and running Pump Gas" kept the 12.0 Dial in.

This run I'm suprised I didn't blow my motor. I had 6.7 counts of knock by the time I hit 4th gear. But I was watching the car next to me instead of watching my gauges/laptop. I ended up Short shifting 2 gears (shifted at 6800in 2nd, and 7200 in 3rd, instead of 8,000rpms)

R/T - .109
60' - 1.890
330 - 5.279
1/8 - 7.985
mph - 93.34
1000 - 10.250
1/4 - 12.208
mph - 115.78

This was my last run of the day figured I was lucky enough that my motor didn't blow so I called it quites while I was ahead and went home.

Car made it home with no problems. - So today I'm going to try new spark plugs, and since I have to fill up again, I'll see if it was just a case of bad gas?

But anyrate. I was very happy with my times, especially considering only running 18psi, 92 oct, Full Street Trim including stereo, and having misfiring issues all day. Even the 12.1 run had some misfiring in top of 3rd and all of 4th.

So anyrate I'm very happy with the way things turned out. Car made it to the track, Ran my first ever 12's, and made it home in 1 peice. Can't ask for anything better then that.

And once I get my knock/misfiring issues figured out, I'll be able to turn the boost back up to the normal 22psi I run on the streets Daily. And hopefully get that 11sec pump gas slip.

But I think the next time I'm able to get to the track will be end of October. I'm going on vacation here in a 2 weeks to S.C. and have to save for that trip Hopefully there won't be snow on the ground when I get back.

wow, those are incredible times, i cant imagine hitting low twelves with full interior plus the misfiring issues. hopefully, you'll resolve that problem and break into the 11's. seems like its doable in ur situation with the knock and misfiring issues. good luck!

Honestly I think there's an 11.8-9@118-120mph on pump in it, once I get it resolved. Just don't know if I'll be able to make it to the tracks again this year. And I plan to build a 6 bolt this winter. So don't know if I'll find out if it was possible with the stock 7 bolt.
