I finally ran an 11 second pass yesterday at New England Dragway. [email protected] with a 1.74 60-ft. Next pass was a [email protected].

I weighed my car at the track. 3315lbs on the nose.

Not bad for a daily driver with a 16G turbo.

Now I just have to turn my boost up a bit more without getting the 30psi spike I got last October.

On the 11 second pass, I had a 29psi spike with boost settling at 24psi. There is more boost init, but the spike gets too large.

I don't own an Evo. I have a 1997 Eclipse GSX with an Evo III 16G turbo.

i know guys running the "worse" 16g full weight in the 11's, congrats on the timeslips, but i'm not real impressed to find out the better 16g can do the same as the worse ones.

I know a number of people with 16Gs in the 11s. Until yesterday, I wasn't one of them. But now I have an 11 second car that is also my daily driver. So please do forgive me if I'm a little excited.

There is more in this turbo. It will go faster. I wasn't maxed out by any means.

Why would the turbo die from seeing boost levels that high? Is that common? :) I don't think so. I don't hear of many 16Gs dying horrible deaths by running high boost.

No, I have 660s now. I think 550s are too small for the Evo III 16G. My injector duty cycles were over 108% with the 550s. Not good.

I plan on leaving the car the way it is. I'm just looking at controlling boost differently to get rid of the 30psi spike.

I read somewhere that you can reduce boost spike by using a slightly larger bleed off hole in the line that runs from te boost controller to the wastegate. I forget where I read it, but I thought you might be interested. I'm going to try it as soon as my new motor is back together.

Congrats on the 11!

congrats on the times. Im going to run my evo3 16g on pump this weekend hopefully. Im hoping for 12's, cant imagine 11's with it. That is just awesome

I shift at about 7500RPMs with a 7750RPM rev limit. I have HKS 264I/272E cams.

First off congratulations...11's is awesome! I am running my ported EVOIII today at the track for the first time to see where I stand now. I am nervous as hell that it wont be the time that I am looking for. This post proves more and more that this turbo, with the proper set up, can be a monster. It also puts more pressure on the driver to not screw anything up. I am still running stock injectors and fpr (I know)...so like I said before this is only to gauge where I am now. If I can squeeze out 17-19psi on race gas I should be mid-high 13's with a decent launch. I am using the 34mm wastegate and a ported evo 02 hosuing to help with creep. All I want is 12.99999 or better eventually.

Once again Congrats...you deserve it. I learned quickly that it takes a lot of time and investment and not to mention HEART just to keep these bad boys on the road, let alone running 11 or 12 second qtrs...and you drive yours daily even...GOOD WORK! :thumb: :dsm: :thumb:
