ok my ex has a friend with a geo storm that thinks he the shit. its a 5 spd not sure of the year but im pretty sure thats its a 3banger. but it could be the 4banger. from what ive read they are 95 and 140 hp for the 3 and the 4 banger respectivly. weight is about 2400-2500lbs. all i know is that the car is bone stock m/t and he might not have a air filter. i know the driver a bit, and from some of his racing buddys he knows how to launch.

ok im a 93 GS with k&n drop in filter calmped to intake hose with no air can and silencer removed, new ngk plugs new oem wires and full 2.25 catback crush bent:( exhaust 5spd. now i know that i will stomp the 3 banger. now what i have fighting against me are a bad cv joint/axle in the drivers side and an alignment problem pulling towards the passenger side. it affects my car to the point that if im going down hill at 70 mph in 5th gear im losing speed on my speedo knoticably. so it does affect my launch alot.

well i know that i should win. i should be racing him today or tomarrow, but id like to fix that cv/axel and aligntment first.

There are variables at play that we cannot account for. Let us know how the race comes out, and get your car fixed.:thumb:

I'm damn sure you'll beat him cause I easily took my friendin my mirage LS in a Geo metro? I think it's the metro, it's the one that shares parts with the mid 90's corrolla's...anyway. But yes, you should take him very easily....Cause I kicked the hell out of my friend and non trubo DSM's and the 1.8 Mirage are close to equal...

well we raced 5 times last night. turns out he has intake catback exhaust and gutted cat on the metro.

1st race i spun a td off the line he had a nice launch and got 1/2 car on me, once i got traction i started pulling on him and was even at the middle-end of second, then i punched third and pulled pretty hard on him and continued to do so in 4th. i ended up beating him by about 2 cars. we raced about 1/3 of a mile.

2nd race i wne against his friends 91 CRX with super chopped shifter and complete gutted interior, there wasend even a dash, guages were zip tied! engine was 12valve LOL and just about dead, hes swapping this weekend. he had no fiter and exhaust. well he launched at 5500rpm since hes got like 80hp and got about 1 1/2 cars one me. i spun most of first and screwed my launch. i was at his door half way into 3rd before we had to stop. he then cooked the rest of his clutch burning out behind me. we thing it was a throwout bearing and we heard some peices fall off. NICE BIG SMOKE from that clutch.

3rd race was all 3 of us. we lined up and thats when the crx's clutch completey blew up after a 6000 rpm launch into first and then 2nd. he had to speed shift without the clutch. the geo had a perfect launch and got a car or more on me. i was delayed a hot secondwhen i started hearing clunk grrrrrrrreeeeeek screeecch from the crx. after a long burnout through first gear i got traction in 2nd and started pulling on the geo and once again passed him in 3rd.

4th race was me and the geo from a 30-35mph roll i was in 3rd he was in 4th we both dropped 1 gear my tires chirped nice and i walk him after that he thought that i was in 4th like him and went to fourth, when i said i hit 2nd he about shit himself.

the other race was crx vs geo. crx launched good on the geo beat it by about a car tho geo reacted MUCH faster.

i learned that launching when your trying to race is harder. way harder and i suck at it. but i can do if from a light normal driving. i also learned that my front tires leave the ground about an inch when i gun it in first and when i enter second. my buddy with a older supra, the notchback style ones that were supra celica models. hes got a 3.0 v6 JDM engine thats stroked withintake and exhaust putting about 220 to the wheels. he was setting up, that thing is a monster

heh, damn how high do you launch. With FWD you don't want to launch so high cause you'll burnout like you said you were...

Try revving up to 2500-3000 and slowly letting out the clutch til you feel it grab and then drop the clutch and floor it. I've been doing that in my mirage forever and almost every launch has been perfect!

i flutter 2500-3000 then ease it out then around 5000 punch it. its just harder for me during a race.

someitmes normal accelleration then hold the clutch while giving it gas ill feel some pressure buildup then when i dump the clutch the car will launch foward then i can punch it. but its alot harder to do.
