4g93 mirage vs. Cavilier Z24

Yeah, so I've been planning to run this kid awhile, all his friends saying how so incredibly fast it is (obviosuly they haven't drivin many cars such as 300hp+ WRX's such as I have, heh) I'm like"...uh...yeah sure whatever...I'll race him I guess"

Well we line up, and we're off, we both drive perfect (well I did..he said he did) I had perfect launch and jump about a half car right off the line, and pull a bit harder with the shift into second, shift into third, he's about 1/2 car back (his bumper at my passanger door) and I hear him shift to third and then he starts to pull VERY slowly, but he did and we went by the 1/4 mile mark an he JUST past me, and he ended HARDLY beating me (my bumper was at the front of his door)

But oh well, I lost, I didn't make any mistakes...but I thought those were capable of running into REAL high 15's like 15.999999999999. That's what I saw in Road and Track anyway, 0-60 in 7.? and 1/4 mile in 15.9 or 16.1 or soemthing like that....

Well, I should either get proprs for staying with him or look stupid for losing to him cause I don't know if they're decent or not...I know that my friend SE-R Spec-V raced him and beat him by like 1.5-2 cars.....which I'd say is equivilent to like .3 seconds...I have no idea, I think too much, haha...

Was he stock?? Some of thsoe Z-24's are pretty quick. My buddy put a turbo on his girl's Z24, that thing is definitely a sleeper.

Stock Z24's are POS. I beat a heavily modded one in my friends Modded Jetta GT. But you only losing by less than half a car is very impressive, do u have any mods done to your car?

haha, but I'm assuming you think it's a POS stock just because anybody with a turboed DSM will think that. z24's aren't fast cars. Like I said..what high 15's best stock?

eh I mean it's not TERRIBLE, but compared to some cars high 15's are real crappy

I drive my dad's GSX daily and compared to my mirage, it's feel like a NASA space shuttle...but my car compared to civics and cavilers...I beat them a lot (with exception of the Z24), heh

Yea i see what yur saying. No i think its a POS because i raped one in my modded RS (before i had the GST) that was still a POS to me..so that z24 lost to a POS so thats why i think its a POS. Other than that, almost nice kill!!!

How many mods did you have to the RS? Cause once before I did a brutal beating to a 2ga talon Esi auto with exhuast and intake...I mean I'm sure you had more than that done, be he had mods and I still destoried him. So I'm assuming you probably had a good amount of mods if you beat a car that beat me when I beat a car probably equivilant to yours stock (confusing sentence, huh?)

heh, All I know is my mirage is good for a low 16 (damned slow), maybe with a few more mods a high high 15...

at the time i only had a CAI, K&N Filter, and an Apex n1 Exhaust. I rocked his ass so bad. Oh, by the way i was auto and he was 5 speed. We raced from a roll and from a stop..whooped him both times.

I beat the hell out of an rs with my modded z24 that was auto. 150 hp base isnt too bad. I had a venom intake manifold, full exahust and intake and the rs def had more. Dont sleep on the Z24!, Hell i even took a v6 camaro with mufflers that was auto also(I just saw the dsm vs v6camaro thread)

5g Evo 4g63t swaped mirages are insanly retarded and then
4g can't swap the EVO 4g63t, so they use the DSM 4g63t

so many examples at mirageforums.net...

haha mirages can be like civics...the typical owner wil rice the crap out of them, but with the right tuning they're dangerous...

But I guess that goes for MOST cars out there...heh

I had a Z24, took it to the track and ran a 15.6 all stock. I beat up on SI's and v6 mustangs and v6 camaros all the time. Fun car, but then I upgraded.

I think that it may be a little bit of all three, cause I'm not a shitty driver by all means and this kid wasn't exactly good, but not bad....

cause ones thing for sure, I saw the video of our race and I was ahead about 85% of the race until he slowly slipped by at that last 20 feet of the 1/4 mile and got me by about a half car...so if he ran even remotly close to a 15.6 then I must've been doing a 15.9 or close....but thats doubtful, he probably did like a 16.1 or soemthing...

but I do know that I've pulled on an SI from a 20mph roll..

Yeah I was beside this SI the other night and he went to chjase after somebody and I thought "aw yeah cool race" so I go to keep up, and I start passing the SI while he's going after the other guy so then I figured "haha oh my god, screw this" and slowed down...

I've seen Z24 all over the board on times but mainly mid to high 15's for manuals and low 16's for auto's. And just like any other car manufacture there are sometimes a couple "Freaks".

Unless you have extensive mods and a turbo, your mirage isn't running 15s(not even 16s) with only 111hp/116tq.

well as far as I know, a mirage does 16.7 stock....and yes I am aware I'm not doing 15's, I never said that....

and with extensive m,ods such as a turbo mirages are easily capable of running 13.9-14.1 at only 10psi, and stock internals. It will only take I/H/E and maybe a chip to reach 15's in a well driven coupe...seeing as though I have intake and exhuast I'm guess I have a decent 115-117 up from the 113, not 111. 111 was only in California due to smog. Not in PA we get the extra 2hp!

Your going to need more than Intake,Exhaust,Headers to even touch high 15s(probaly good for low 16s,still really really slow). 115-117hp is good for high high 16s to low 17s.115 crank horsepower is more like 91-94 wheel horsepower, I don't think that is enough power to even touch high 16s.

13.9-14.1 is decent for a mirage with a turbo, I have seen alot quicker ones. They can be quick, but they need FI to make any real power.

More than likely you were the better driver.

NA guys with I/H/E have touched 15, HIGH HIGH HIGH 15's. And stock is high 16's, cause I can just get mid to low 16's with all I have.

13.9-14.1 is pretty decent but like I said, thats turbo only...and about only 190whp. There's a 1.5 turbo mirage with just turbo and exhuast doing low 14's at 188whp. and then theres 1.8 liters with only turbos doing high 13 without exhuast, exhuast will get them mid-high 13's. mirage in the 12's with 300+

haha, but I just am disagreeing that mirages can't touch 16's stock...of course the less killed drivers it will take I/H/E to reach 16's. I know for sure that if I went to a track, I'd probably be disappointed with time but I'm sure they'd be in mid-high 16's and not mid to low 16 like I think now....cause I can drive the car well and according to car and driver 0-60 8.6 and 1/4 mile in 16.7.....and I'm willing to bet that I can get that or better because I have mods...but oh well....a lot of the mirages tested are automatics which do 0-60 in close to 10 second, because the automatice tranny in the mirage is so :thumbdown
