evo vs z06

so i get my car dyno'd and tuned on friday, 286 to the wheels with 307ft/lbs down there too. i'm out looking for a place to drink with a couple of my buddies when we can't and head home. i have 3 other people in my car counting me. so an excess of about 400lbs. we're driving down this road when i pass a z06 (405hp). at first i really didn't want to mess with him. i guess my straight pipe exhaust pissed him off. he went by me at a stop light and rev'd. the rev really pissed me off, only morons in civics do that. so now i wanna race him but my buddy in his gst is in front of me so i can't launch. the light turns green and my buddy turns leaving me with the z06. i try pulling up next to him (cruising at about 15mph) but he just jumps on it. he was about 2 car lenghts ahead of me. so my foot meets the floor and my car just jumps (this is the first time i romped on my car since i got it tuned) and holy poop!. before i could get outta first gear i was next to him. we grabbed second at about the same time and his tires went up in smoke with his rear end startin to bounce back and forth. i ran into third gear barely staying ahead before i had romp the brakes for the traffic light (oh i out braked him too). the look on his face was pure classic when he pulled up next to me at the next stop light. unfortunately he turned cause i really wanted to launch him and just leave him completely. but the lil evo that could, was able to run with a z06

Im not sure if the zo6 has 405 hp. I went to the local internation auto show and they had the new vet there, granted im not sure what kind it was, but it was one of the new ones. And the sign beside the car said the car had 350 HP(not WHP, keep that in mind), but i dont know what kind it was, just thought i would toss that out there. O and it was a convertable if that makes any diff., sure was nice to sit in it it felt fast just sitting it the dang thing.

the zo6 is 405hp as far as I know...that was a standard vette...I don't think the made z06 convertables, but I don't know much about vettes...

good kill anyway!!! 400 pounds KILLS acceleration and your EVO didn't seem to care!

Any longer and he would of smoked you , They run low 12s (the 405hp one).

the z06s come in hardtops only. when they first came out in 2001 they were 385hp. then they upped the power to run with the vipers to 405. the only difference between the 385 and the 405hp one's (that i know of) are the side badges. on the 405 hp vettes it says z06 with 405hp written just underneath. this one clearly stated that. plus the z06 comes with the bigger tires and those sexy wheels and titanium exhaust (which sounds mean as %$$)
but i am aware that had we gotten up to about 80mph he would have started to reel me in. gotta love it though

Regardless of the ZO6 that was beatin it was a nice run. Any ZO6 that gets its ass handed to it one way or another, buy a 4G63T powered anything, is outstanding.

Oh that was you?? Lol guess what bro...i saw that race man. I was on the left handside about 8 cars behind you...i dont know if you noticed a RED GST..but i saw this other GST i was trying to race (just for the hell of it) and i saw a Red Lancer Evolution and a Vette going at it...it just made me wanna see it all but too bad i had to make a turn and take my buddy home. Anyways Good kill..if u ever want to meet up i live about 7 minutes from quantico.

The Z06 is 405hp at the crank not the wheels if that matters. I work at a Chevy dealer and my boss sells the most vette's on the east coast. I can't wait to see his face when I give a Z06 a view of my rear bumper.

Yea it is great you surprised his dumb @ss. Most vette owners arent really an ass when they see me on the road except for that fool you raced and this one Red corvette that started revvin at me just a few mins ago when i was coming back from dumfries. I was like why even bother to race this fool..ill beat him cause he prolly doesnt even know how to drive judging by the way his car kept stalling every light...

. you're right about that. i purposely went by him at first in second gear at like 40mph, nothing real loud. but i saw him look over at me, i thought it was just cause my exhaust is loud, i never thought he would try to race me. i mean most guys in a z06 would look at our cars and be like, "why waste my gas?" when the truth of the matter is, there are plenty of dsms out there that will whoop up on a vette

The look on the face of those guys when "we" put them in there place is about on of the best feelings you can have. Just knowing my whole car+setup cost about as much as most of these guys pay in the first year of there 6 year loan is outstanding. I am sure some of us have spent less (total) than they did on there downpayment for the ZO6.

I'm loving it!! There has been a mass inflo of corvettes down here lately, unfortunately the ones I've raced have only been C5s.....Nice job bro, I'm looking for a Z06 to give my one finger salute to.

not to thread hi jack but i had a rqace w/ a c5 last week on a highway. not my car has a b16g with suporting mods and smic. Lets just say i let off at 145mph., and was about 5or 6 cars ahead of him
