Wuz up guys. My neighbor has a '93 hatch with a GS-R motor swapped into it. I have run a best of 14 flat at the track and he pulled a 15.5. He says racing on the track is totally diferent than racing on the street and that he could smoke me. So, we decide to race each other. Here are the results.

1st Race - 20mph roll
I honk three times and we go. To my suprise he stays with me and even in second gear we are side by side. Then i put it in third and start to pull away. After hitting about 110, i shut it down and let him catch up. I ended up beating him by about 4 cars. It was a good race.

2nd Race - From a stop
This time we are at a light. I rev it up to 4500 and when the green light flashes i was gone. The all- wheel- drive just launched me and i pulled about 5 cars and it stayed that way.

He is a good guy and admitted defeat. So it was some good racin'.

Good kill .... 15.5  Are you sure he wasn't lying about his time ? I thought swapped hatches ran into the 14s.

No, i'm sure about his time. I was there when he ran it. He went to the track last night though and ran a 15 flat. Still not fast considering it weighs only 2300 with him in it.

True, I would of thought it to be quicker due to the weight of the car. Good Kill anyways.

2300lbs is unbelivabley light. Im just checking to make sure you guys are refering to the same car im thinking of CRX hatch right? Maybe not, im still a newb and just wanted to get that cleared up, thanks.

No, the crx are a totally different body than a hatchback. The CRX is even lighter since it is so small. CRX's are only two-seaters. Hatchbacks are the same as the Civic Coupe but have a rear hatch, hence the name Hatchback.

crx's weigh less than 2000 lbs - i actually believe its like 1775lbs stock. another lightweight car out there is the nissan sentra se-r fwd with LSD stock. swap in an sr20det and you can easily make a 250 or more hp car weighing in at about 2300lbs

Just because they swap in an engine, it DOES NOT make them fast!:thumb:

No it doesn't and I never said that. :thumb:

It does however make them extremly quick, I have watched several swapped hatches with only I/E run into the high 14s.

Yes they can be quick, but every car is different. You put an I/E on a prelude and it is in NO WAY quick in my book. You put that engine in a CRX and it becomes quick with the right mechanics and tuners.

I just quoted you to let others less informed know.;) I am not questioning your skill level or any one particular mechanic/tuner.:D

I never thought you did , and defintly a I/E prelude is still slow. :dsm:

sounds like V-tec isn't hooked up properly in that car. a stock B18C1 swapped bubble shoudl be able to hit high 13's no problem if running properly. kid at my school has a prelude i raced in my bro's old gti vr6 that walked on a jetta 1.8T that was going 13.8. the prelude hung with the gti pretty good and it only had i/h/e/type S(JDM lude) cams. definately a low 14 second car so preludes aren't THAT slow. it all depends on driver and the cars tune. i've seen some pretty sad times from DSM's too with alot of mods then seen cars with next to nothin lay down pretty awesome #'s.

The link does not work. And yes this was the outcome of the race, if you want to believe it or not. And yes his best time is only 15 flat. I always ask him what's the deal? since his car is so freakin light. His V-TEC kicks in at 4 grand. Isn't that kind of low? I thought it was. But yeah this is the truth. Why lie?

VTEC for stock GSR engages 4400 RPM I'll upload the video to a site shortly.
