Hey guys I currently own a Boosted 2006 Honda Civic SI... Im trying to do the responsible thing and part my car and sell it to get rid of my car payments, bc my fiancee and I recently bought a house. I plan on buying a 97-99 GSt or GSx is the price is right LOL. My boy 2geclipse has long been into DSM's and his newest monster is about to come outta the shop this weekend, so im relatively familiar with the cars, infact my 06 SI has a mitsu 18g LOL.

Could you guys offer any insight going foward about what to look for/not look for when im shopping around trying to purchase? I realize finding a completely unmolested one is going to be damn near impossible especially in atlanta where there isnt a huge selection. Im willing to drive to an extent to shop though.

onto some pics of the current ride, as if any of you care about a honduh LOL

IM SELLING THE HONDA AND GETTING A GSt or GSX for LAWD sakes LOL...

now that is one of the few hondas i think i could easily drive! Very nice car, glad to see you coming over though. DSMs are definetally a love hate relationship. Mostly hate mixed in with a few brief moments of love ROFL but seriously sorry you are parting with what looks like a clean, well built, and acceptable honda.

thanks for the compliments and help guys, ill look into those FAQ pages...

thanks again

That civic looks good, what kind of numbers is it pushing?

And you will quickly learn the ins/outs of a DSM once you buy one LOL

One thing you want to look out for is the dreaded strut tower rust. Like you had mentioned I would try and find one with none or a few mods, if you do decide on a modded car make sure it looks like the work was done right.

The SI is a nice car. I can't believe the trans is holding up with the turbo on there. Have you had to open it up yet? What are your thoughts on the car pre turbo and after the turbo upgrade?

Very nice civic. Where in atl are you?

Not true at all, hondas may not have been our first choice, but that car is clean, boosted and not riced out. 3 things that usually people who like DSMs like. Props for boosting it, I understand what its like to boost a car that's nt from the factory since my eclipse was :thumb:

Be careful! A DSM can become quite the money pit! I've sunk more than I'm willing to admit on mine in the last few years, and financially would have been better off with a NEW slow car than my used fast car. :p

trans has held up just fine thankfully. It put down 312whp/237trq... its wasnt the torqueist thing but it was fast. Driveability is awsome with the setup as its my DD...

Thanks for the advice

Was in Kennesaw, now live in Canton ;)

My boys over at 4G performance will be taking care of a lot. I will not be doing anything until i have the 6 bolt fully built and ready to be swapped in... im a big proponent for doing it right the first time and saving your money later ;)

Josh, no pix of the engine bay? More photos! Details on the current setup, if you please.

I'm sorry you had to own a Honda for the time that you did;) its really clean though. i suggest getting a gsx i wish i did after I bought my Gs-t good luck annd welcome to the crew

If you get a decent unmolested GSX thats been taken car of and maintained, and all mods are planned and thought out well, it can be rewarding. Clint up there just went with all the baller Versace, Louis Vuitton stuff. If you wan a decent peppy DD that can hold its own, a 2G a properly tuned 16G setup will do. Just get a nice unmolested one, and do all needed mantainene before modding. Just these cars are old and things are tired. a '99 is almost 10 yrs old already.

If you want to do the responsible thing keep the Honda. Car payments can't be worse than dumping thousands into a 10+ year old car. Doesn't seem like the best way to save money.

I kind of agree with housegsx, you'll dump your next few years worth of payments into upgrading teh DSM, you might as well keep paying on that honda.. That's a sweet looking car, and i'm not biased either way ( i tune more hondas than mitsubishis, because more people have them ) and I am honestly impressed with what hondas can do for very little money.

I threw together a "super budget CRX" with a 155k mile 1.8ls motor from the bone yard. I threw a ghetto home made turbo kit on it ( Greddy manifold w/ custom adapter plate for a T3 turbo), my SAFC and 550's that were in my car back in the 16g days. The cars first shakedown pass was 12.20's, the second run was 11.70's... By the third run first gear blew out of the car ( we were on slicks) Took the car out on it's fourth pass, launched in 2nd and did an 11.45 @ 127 MPH... Not bad for an un-built motor w/ 155k on it and less than 1000 dollars in parts :D I've never seen a 2g eclipse go that fast for under 1k LOL ....the turbo was a 60 trim T3 defnintely wouldn't put a DSM in teh 11's LOL well maybe but not as easy as it did that honda..the driver was even a little over 250 lbs

Anyway, enough of my long stories, nice honda ! You'll love your mitsubishi and hate it even more.

ill respond to all the other post later as i dont have time now, but the DSM wont be my DD i will be buying a 99 or so prelude to DD as the GSX will be a weekend warrior. Ill respond to the rest later as i dont like how you guys are trying to tell me how to decide whats responsable to do with my money. How many of you owned your own house @ 22.... not hating but comon now, im not buying the eclipse slapping on a bunch of parts and turning up the boost and running it untuned so shit will break. Im gonna do it right and the shop i deal with are 4G masterminds.
