I just recently was given a 1993 Eclipse from my father-in-law, I am wanting to make a street racer out of it. It runs great!!!!

Its a GS DOHC, FWD, Non-T. Automatic trans. (Just found out it has a 6 bolt 1992 motor in it!!!! :thumb: )

What some good after-market updrages for this car and I would like to put a turbo charger on it as well. Can you guy's give me some idea's and link to look at some parts and stuff. I'll take and read on any advice given.

Oh yeah, I am on a buget (New born baby and all ) , This car will be driven at least 4 days a week as well and garage kept. Even tuned it will get better mileage than my 4x4 LOL.

Thanks a ton,

P.S. I want to keep the Auto tranny for now, I am sick of driving a stick LOL. My truck is one :thumb: .

Just before you get in a huge turbo swap on that thing I would research more and see how hard and expensive it is. You can spend up to 5k doing a turbo swap with all the parts and still barely have more power than a stock turbo dsm. I recommend small upgrades and not turbo it. If you want lots of power I would buy a turbo version.

I am not looking for a ton of power, just enough to have some fun with, and to race around all the damn stock Mustangs (sick of seeing them) around here. Would like one these people to pipe this little car and leave them for something to wonder about LOL. I can't go out and buy another car right now (can't afford it) and this thing was a freebie any way. I am just looking for some bolt on upgrades and what not. Hell even a small turbo is not out of my buget, body kit and the like. I figure it will take me at least 8 months to complete. I am just having fun first and for most :thumb: .

I think what they are trying to say, is that w/ money it takes to turbo your 1g NT, and for what the car is worth, you could find a 1g AWD for the same price and be fast in an instant. So if a turbo is in your budget, so is an 1G AWD that is already turbo'd and will beat some of these mustangs in your area (if thats what your looking for)

How ever if you are dead set on keeping that model, look in the 1g NT forum (if it still exsists.)

All-Motor Upgrades
Air Intake
Replace the stock air box with a solid pipe and high-flow cone filter.

Cat-back Exhaust
Replace the stock cat-back exhaust with a higher flowing model.

High Flow Cat
Replace the stock catalytic converter with a higher flowing model.

Exhaust Header
Replace the factory exhaust manifold with a tubular steel header.

OK, Yeah i am sticking with this car for now. I can do all the above. I'll leave it N/A instead of turbo. Hell I don't care, I am just having fun :thumb:

Is there anybody that can recommend and post links on a few more parts I can add to this mix? Like cam gears and cam shafts? I am going to ram the air on it. A good place to order a preformance chip? Or anything else.

I thank everybody for thier help on this.

since you already have a good platform, you can check out the classifieds and piece something together. you have high compression then turbo vehicles so watch out for detonation if you turbo it.

OK, guy lets get away from the street racer thing. And if you can't help me, then keep your opinion to your self.

It's best to just ignore it and not even respond. Besides, you could have an 89 NT automatic or a Spyder NT automatic. Those are surely slower than what you've got.

I had a 93 GS auto for a while. Picked it up for $600 with most of the engine in the hatch. Just put it back together in the parking lot and drove it for a year while I waited on pistons. Never changed the oil or anything. My brother got $2800 for it against a new Sentra.

That was a good car. I almost miss it. Still have the key on my keyring...

Uh huh...

I'm not sure if this thread was moved here, or not... but next time, post all 1G questions either in the 4G63 Tech area or the Newbie forum.

This thread is closed because it doesn't belong here, you obviously didn't read the FAQ in the Newbie forum, and you want to make your car into a "street racer."
