I am looking at a '95 GSX, its in good shape. It has a few mods like Exaust, 1st gen BOV, ect. Its 5 spd, has new tires, and has 115k. I have got the guy down to $4500, is this a good deal? This will be my first car, but i already know how to drive a stick and every thing. I think i could handle it :thumb: , but what do u guys think? :shhh:

Do a compression test first off, look for oil leaks , make sure the clutch engages consistently and smoothly, and find out as much maint. history on the car as possible.(timing belt, fluids etc.) $4500 isn't too bad of a price so if all checks out go for it.

My 95 GSX runs awesome! Its got 143k on it. Just find out as much info on it as you possibly can. Remember too, i believe the 95's were the only year that came with forged pistons :thumb:

Forged pistons? You suck at life.

Don't buy it. They're all lemons.

Theres a 1995 TSi AWD here with a 2gb eclipse front and a Hahn 20g with manifold, wastegate and tons and a bunch of other mods for $4000.

$200 ECU is not something a $4500 price tag should be based on. If this is your first car, get a RELIABLE car for 4k, then get yourself a job, and get a nice DSM to play with as a toy. DSM are classics now, gotta primp then, stroke them, and beat on them gently.:thumb:

Holy crap, this thread is full of fail.

OP, do yourself a favor and have the car looked at by a mechanic, preferably someone who knows DSM's inside and out. It may well be in great condition, or you might need to drop another $1K into it just to get all the basic maintenance up to date.

That wasn't the intention of my comment. I was just putting it out there for him to keep in mind if he were to grab a 2G. Sometimes it is just nice that a car comes with those sort of things.
