I'm curious too. Not sure if the VCD needs to be replaced or the rear differential either. I've heard as much as the above and the rear axle but I wasn't sure. If anyone knows, by all means post! ;)

If you want some info you can email me and i will send the infomation for you..
My email is [email protected]

By the way i didn't change the VCD and not even the rear axle,
I did 1.4 on the 60' foot...

Not shown in the photos, but you can completely remove the transmission computer
from the car. It was left in originally in my car in case it was needed for something,
but it was removed shortly after.

Also not shown in the photos. There is a "ring" in the end of the transmission end of
the crank. That's where the torque converter's pilot bearing snugs into. This ring must
be removed in order for the flywheel to bolt up to the crank. You have to remove it be
any means necessary, and this may include a hammer and screwdriver, pliers, dynamite,
whatever.

You will also need to either figure out which wires are for the clutch pedal
inhibitor switch in the AT harness that plugs into the AT Park/Neutral switch
(big fat plug on top of tranny) or take the switch off the AT, and "put it in
park" and leave it plugged into the harness in order to start the car as
there's no plug near the clutch pedal to plug in the MT's inhibitor switch.

PS. Cruise Control will no longer work unless you figure out the wiring...also
part of that inhibitor switch. I didn't bother as I removed my cruise control.

I did it last summer..

Swapped in a 95 GSX M/T tranny into my 98 GSX A/T .. had it done professionally by a shop in eastern PA. With shipping the tranny, axels, ECU reprogramming fidanza flywheel and centreforce clutch and all the other crap i think the total came out to like 4,500.. I love my car but it was probably more cost efficient to sell it and buy a M/T. Oh well small price to pay for stick :D

gsxtacy dude you got a new one ripped 4500OMG my friend did his conversion when his automatic tranny went only 1900$ with parts installed......

if you can find all the parts this place around boston mass would install it for between 600$-$ 1000 pm for more details trust me it would be worth the trip up to boston these guys are good.....

Nah, you gotta figure my 4500 was the total with a new clutch, fid flywheel (8 lbs) and the tranny shipped and rebuilt... Honestly I'd consider it a deal :D

4,500 dollars to get a stick..wow . Really better off selling the car , i would never spend that much money ever just to get another Tranny. If i was these people id buy the best turbo and go from there , speed would be better too.

Agreed, with 4500 I can get a nice '92 1G for the same amount with less than 100K miles on it. But I can understand about passion for your car.
