Someone explain what crank walk is

I'm not sure if this is an Extreme forum subject but I'd be interested in a detailed explanation of it even though I get the basic Idea of too much play in the crankshaft due to the rod bearings being worn. Or am I completely wrong
 
No, crankshaft thrust bearing. It holds the crank in place against the pressure to press the throwout bearing and release the clutch, and prevents axial shift during cornering. Because of.... well, no one knows why, for certain... things Going Wrong, on some cars it wears out, and on some cars to the point of causing serious damage. When the bearing goes, the crank can move in-and-out like an inmate's weenie behind you in the showers.
