Ok so I just got my built short block and will be transplanting the head etc over to it and installing it in the next few weeks. One of the things I'm moving over is my holset setup. I'm wondering if it is a bad idea to use a hx35 to break it in? My ewg springs are setup for around 20psi. Should I invest in a cheap 14b?

Break in process I think I'm just going to let it warm up, take it for a drive with 1/2-3/4 throttle and engine braking for 20 minutes or so then go home and change the oil then normal driving with pulls etc and change the oil 200 miles then 500 the 1000 then regular 2500-3000. So basically what I comprehend about the motorman break in. Thoughts on this?

Thanks again for any help or insight you all have.

I just hope I have enough self control to not give it hell LOL. My dad has the philosophy of "give it hell and drive it like you stole it, if you did it right it will be fine if not try again. Lol he is also use to building old v8s though and they will always take a beating and ask for more.

The biggest concern during break in is to avoid extreme rich or lean a/f ratios which would not allow the rings to seat. Drive it normally for a couple hundred miles with no boost. Then do a compression and leakdown test and if everything is good then head to the dyno.

Ok good deal luckily between the wideband and link I should be able to keep an eye on everything.
