I'm looking at a 96 gst for my dd. The guy says it won't start. Said he was driving down the road andthe oil light came on and he started to pull over and it shut off. Said it never made knocking noise but a loud screach. Said it blew an oil line? Said its not locked down. Had engine rebuild and a 6 bolt head before all this happened. He wants $1900 for the car and it looks fairly clean. What you guys think about the engine?

It's impossible to know he condition of it. If you do buy it i would expect that it will need an engine and if you can't afford one or to repair that one than don't buy it.

Got any pictures?

Honestly man if its completely stock 1900 bucks is a pretty big gamble. An engine being "rebuilt" has no bearing in my opinion on the price of the car. Unless it was rebuilt by a very reputable shop with all the paperwork and a standing warranty. Then it might play a factor. Really just a gamble, I wouldn't pay 1900 for a none running car that had an oil line break while driving.

The fact is the motor might be shot, you arent able to test drive it, there's really no telling what you'll need to do to it to get it running properly. And as bryanwheat said, if you don't want to rebuild or replace the motor dont buy it
