As stated i threw a rod in my 7 bolt approximately a year and a half ago and have been thinking of picking up a project 2g. I looked at the engine today and the cylinder looks perfect and the crankshaft journal doesn't have any scoring i don't think. I tried scratching my fingernail across the surface and didn't really snag, it just kind of glided. I was wondering if i removed the crank and everything, had the block cleaned and honed, polished the crank and got new bearings would this thing be alright? The bearing was actually still on the crank journal on one side of the crank, the other bearing was on the rod end.

This question would be best answered by your machinist, but yes if all is in good shape there's no reason not to be ableto use the parts. the machinist can tell you if the parts are fit for use much better than any of us can through the internet

Ill post pictures later so that we can get some educated answers but i do plan on taking it to a machinist monday to have them look at it. I almost think i could just use some emery cloth or whatever its called on the one bad crank journal. Get a new rod, throw a bearing in there and call it good. The cylinders still have their cross hatched honing marks and no scratches or anything so once again i think its good!

The rod cap separated and bent the rod where it was jammed it didn't score anything that was a moving part, ill post pictures to show the cylinder and the crank journal here in a little bit. No broken rod, just bent and the cap is no bueno.

Make sure that you have the crank checked for cracks and straightness. If it is not cracked than it should be usable.

On the crank journal picture there those are not scratches that the fingernail can pick up, my nail moves very well over the journal without catching.
