So I am building a new 7 bolt for my 2g. Why? Because I already have Eagle rods and Arias pistons along with a built head plus tons of extras for the car brand new in the box.
Now I want to try and build a nice 7 bolt that I don't have to worry too much about. I need to buy a crank to finish my engine besides the block work for the new pistons. I am not sure of the differences between the 95-96 blocks and the 97-99 blocks. I have heard the later 2g blocks don't have as much of an issue with crankwalk later in its life. I am understanding that the thrust bearing set up is different along with the main caps.
My block is a 95. What can I do to help this thing last long? Better thrust bearing? Alignment pins for the mains? I don't know what would be good to do to the block since I am sending it to the machine shop, as well as tricks of the trade or important things I should do to better the life of my 7 bolt block.
I can get a 10 under crank through my work for a great price but DSM Graveyard has Eagle cranks for a great price for the 7 bolt right now. What should I do? Is there a 1g oil squirter conversion for the 2g blocks? I know a lot of theories about them being an issue and robbing oil pressure when the get stuck open or fall out of the block. I will be installing a balance shaft removal kit in the car which will help oil pressure.
Any advice on my build would be great. thanks guys
