i am going to be putting together my 6 bolt for my laser soon. i had this oil pump in my old talon, which crankwalked. From the picture attached you can see the damage to the case. Now what im wondering is, will this hurt anything? I have another case that is undamaged with gears in it and all, but i have no idea how old it is, but i know it works. But the damaged pump has 2k miles on it thats all.

If you're not going to buy a new one, you inspect both of them and use the one that's in the best shape regardless of age.

I'd think of it like this... say it were two different sets of 4 tires. 4 of them are 2 weeks old but somebody ran 5* of negative camber and the inside edge on all 4 are already worn out. The other 4 are 5 years old but they have 80% tread left and no uneven wear. Which would you choose?

Ok. Just wanted an opinion, because I didn't know if the metal shavings could have damaged the gears. It did eat the entire one side of the thrust bearing, along with some odd thousandths of the block.
