I was planning on going with forged, but S.O.B. thats almost $900 for a daily.
Then again i dont want to be running old ass OEM pistons or NPR, so im looking into getting an EVO/DSM setup.
I know that both wrist pins are 22mm, but i doubt that they just drop in like standard pistons.
Any machine work that needs to be done to PROPERLY fit?
Is the standard bore 85mm as well?
This is going on a 7 bolt.

Thanks!

Everything is a drop-in affair. Just make sure the bores in your block are good, not out-of-round, and can be honed and ready to go. I JUST finished building my 7bolt shortblock with evo8 rods/pistons. Only thing you gotta make sure of is, when you are assembling the bottom end, to put the 2 dots on top of the piston, facing the timing belt side of the motor.

As far as those"old-ass OEM pistons" go, I picked up my EVO8 rods/pistons with 35k miles, for $100.

Some where around 8.0:1.
Evo pistons are designed to be used with a head gasket that is .034" thick, combustion chambers that are only 43cc's in volume and a compression height that is about .060" less than that of a DSM.
These are the three most critical variables when dealing with Evo pistons in a dsm.
The combustion chamber volume being the hardest to correct.
Unless you can get a hold of a 96 Hyundai Sonata 2.0L head.
They have 2g intake ports, and 43cc combustion chambers.
They also come with an intake manifold that has an inlet the size of 1g's and an intake plenum that is also the size of 1g's with runner like a 2g....

Here's a link I did a little work on.

When I said "old ass OEM ones" i meant the stock ones in the car.:thumb:
As far as dsmgraveyard goes, I've had bad experience with them already, but if they are the only place that sells em other than the dealer, I can give em another shot.
I know they machine their own stuff with their own rods and what not, but can I use my stock rods (machined and what not) and save a couple hundred bucks?
Th head has not been machined, everything is still on car.

When replacing pistons or even rods, don't you need to get the engine balanced?

Yup. Well it's highly recommended that one balances the entire rotating assembly including the flywheel, when you a install a bsek I think it's a must.

Can the dsm head be machined to match that of an evo and restore the compression?

the BSEK has nothing to do with the balance of the rotating assembly

the BS is there for engine harmonics, and to counter balance the rotating vibe.

If you mill your head to regain compression, you will be past the service limit, and you will end up with issues from the C2C of the cams and crank.
