so my engine blew up yesterday and im getting the whole thing out tonight. it seize because the drain plug fell out.

so i bet the walls are strached to hell so ###### 20 over will cover it

was wondering what kinda set up i need to rev out to 9000-10000

i was thinking

20 over 8.5-1 forged pistons

hi beam rods

new retainers

ported 1g head

272cams and springs and retainers

Oh no im sorry that happened:(... wasnt your oil gauge working properly for you to not notice? your crank is defenetly gonna need turned, your goals with the new parts are sounding good though:)

yea i did but i was on the fast side of the freeway couldnt get over to the slow side due to traffic and didnt want a dead car in the middle of the free way or i wouldnt even have had the shell LOL

but im taking the motor out on thurdays i just want to make sure thats all i need!

you really think ill need the crank turned?

Why do you see the need to rev that high? Is it a drag car or do you plan on running it on the street?

After oil starvation I would be wary or reusing the crank. Depending on how long the engine ran with no oil the block may be trashed also. Have your shop of choice go over the block with a fine toothed comb looking for damage. Pay close attention to the align bore.

If you want to shift at those rpm's you are going to have to have a built tranny. The stock one doesn't like shifting that high. Also what turbo do you plan on running? Your ebay 16g isnt going to make power at those rpms so reving that high will be pointless.

To rev out that far....

Your going to need a light bottom and... some damn good springs/retainers... and bigger cams... Fully balanced... etc etc..

And a dogbox.

OP, if you are planning on making a street car, I would recommend you go the stroker route to make use of airflow. A 10k revving engine IS NOT PRACTICAL on the street. You are going to have so much invested into that engine / drivetrain to rev that high, you'll never want to drive it except on the track (since the wear you will incur on the street will substantially decrease the powertrain's lifespan).

Get on DSMTalk and talk with Jake Montgomery aka evil eagle. I know that he was revving his to the moon. I think he might have had a de-stroked 2.1, shep tranny(i think), FP4 cams and a gt42. That should give you a good idea.;)

I must have forgotten, didn't his entire setup get destroyed because he used an OEM transfer case on that car?

Oh that's right, it did.

Again, the EMPHASIS was STREEEEEEEEET car, which Jake's car was most certainly not.

Start off with a good basic engine set up before you go and say you want to rev to 9k. Its totally un nessasary. H beam rods are all you will need. Basic forged pistons I recomend MAhle. You dont need a ported head just good valve springs. 272 cams are fine. You will have much more fun out of a basic engine than an all out race motor. You will get more miles out of it and keep the car longer.
If you want to spend alot of money some were spend it on the turbo and transmission.

ewww ok sounds good i guess reving out to the moon is asking for it! but i just got my hx35 so will have fun soon

I was EMPHASIZING...on the fact that a car built for 9-10k isnt a very great street car. dont be a douche and slam my thoughts. the OP was asking for our thoughts, and thats mine.

not looking for an "e-fight"; as you so kindly put it. Just stating "MY" opinion towards the reliability of a "Street" car running high RPMs. My apologies if you felt offended in anyway. back on topic though.

will thanks man. I talked to a vendor and 10k rpms where a pretty cheap plan but he got into the drive train and that broke the bank so i think im gunna be safe and just to a built short block .20over and the h1c i got at like 25-30psi and just be happy with 400hp but ill def keep you guys posted im taking photos as we speak to post up this will be a build thread :hellyeah::rocks::hellyeah:

o an thanks for the help i did ask for your guys thoughts and im glad i got them i just threw out ideas and found facts for my self and through the help of you guys and i really do thank you guys for all the quick answers I swear to god i can ask a question and I just leave up the page cause in like 2 mins i have an answer. GOD BLESS DSMTUNERS +)

heres my tear down right now

thats a bummer, but it's kewl you have a place you can remedy the problem so quickly,

yea my buddys tools not mine so cant brag too much LOL

wow crank is gunna need to be turned 2 bearings were almost completely in peices. I think the crank is saveable its gunna need to be turned. Also the crank was burned a little surface i think from the lack of oil but same amount was on 2 rods and brake cleaner took 90% off so they werent burned as bad as i thought.

LOL ill post up cant find camera charger LOL whole block is apart i really dont want to grind down the crank so i think im gunna get a new one or new used one.
