well i bought an awd auto today for 100$. yea a 100.00 dollars. he said get rid of it for me hahahahah. lucky me right:coy:
the head is 34 thousands out of flat. i guees the old man that ouned it did not no what a water temp gauge is. anyway...with the head that out of flat. what are the chances of the block being cracked?

if it is ol'well.....i guess i have a parts car for the five speed.
i would like some opion's on the chances.
i was thinking about just slaping on an old head, stock hg, some ARP'S, and a new auto tentioner i have laying around on there and see what happends.

he pretty much told me it got hot and shut off.
i guess it hydrolocked because the head gasket was shot in between #1 and #2 cly.

now i know some of ya are going to say get the block checked.
but iam knee deep in my 5 speed at the moment. and realy don't have time or alot of cash for the auto.
i do know that the head has bin over 250 degrees. is that enough to crack block?
even if it was just a min or so at that temp?

thanks for the help.

to the moderators. sorry if the post don't meet your expectations.....please don't send me PM'S dogging me.its not cool:notgood:

just please tell me whats wrong with the post and i will fix it. thanks

well give the block a "eyeball" check.. roll the pistons down and look in the bores for cracks, also clean the the deck and look close for cracks

if you do not see anything, then slam a head on it and see what happens..... it may run.. it may granade on you.... I would be concerned about the rings being shot. but bein you got the car for 100 dollars... and be out maybe another $150 or so on parts and some time... it may just be worth the gamble to see if you want to try to fix any other issues with the car.

yea the sweet thing is. it just had a timingbelt water pump and all pully's and auto tentioner just done 4,000 miles ago.

i have the bottom end moving smoothly. it rolls over good. i don't see any cracks at all. but the knock sensor is melted. it ran down the back of the block.

i just got a core head for it 10 min ago for 40 bucks. gonna go have it checked and resurfaced. i hope it all works out. but to be honest.
i just love messing around with the 4g63.

its agreat motor to tinker with.
i just make sure i always have a D.D
thats why i bought my 22r toy pickup.

My orginal 2g head got so hot that is melted a hole from the combustion chamber through to an oil passage, WELL OVER 250 degrees F. I slapped a stock 1g topend from a 6 bolt on the stock 2g bottomend and it has ran ever since...about 30+ thousand miles. None of the engine was rebuilt.

Maybe I just got lucky (probably so) but, given my situation I would say that your block is fine.

that makes me feel better.....like i said its a very low budget deal here.
if i can spend no more the 500$ to get it going i could sell for 1500$

then buy a new fp68 turbo for the 5 speed.:hellyeah:
