oil pump question

I let my car sit for 2 years now ive been working on it and im at the point where i have started it but it pushes no oil pressure. we tried cranking it over for 30 seconds to build oil pressure nothing oil filter is dry. then we poured in fresh oil started it let it run for a minute nothing. the only changes we have made is switched to a 90 ofh and ran a external cooler. is it possible that it would need primed just from sitting? or could it just go bad for no reason. shouldn't it self prime? the front case was never removed and is the stock unit. any insight is welcome.

sitting is no problem, that shouldn be a problem so it wont go bad for no reason.

Take the timing belt off.

Then spin up that oil pump(rear balance shaft) until you see oil in the head.

So it starts fine, but you have no oil pressure and an empty oil filter? Does the oil light stay on? Is your engine ticking really loud while it's running?

primed the pump runs like a champ must have just unprimed itself after sitting for so long. so does anyone know if these oil pumps should be self priming?
