ok my 97 gsx is smoking at idle and when give it gas. it dosnt start smoking till get warmed

up. i took the exhaust manifold off and found oil in 3 ports. but the valves look clean so i

cleaned it off and still same thing. i changed the pcv and still same think. i guess valve seals

are next. i did rebuild the bottom end with fresh rings. any suggestions its not valve cover

i need help. but i dont want to remove the head. i know theres a tool out there to do the
job

nope, plus F THAT all leaned over reaching for this and that taking your head apart crap. take it off clean it good put it on a bench and do it right. You will probably lose a bunch of shit if you even try it in the car. I dont think its even possible.

ok IF you have the right tools. Do you? I am about tired of people automatically assuming because you have an account here you have 10 grand worth of fancy whirly gig tools to work on these cars. I have been tearing them apart for years with no fancy gizmo go go gadget super blue blade 6000 dollar special tool number 1021p962340876345. I have basic stuff any half serious mechanic would have. If i did valve jobs daily I would own that tool. The avg person isnt going to have the control or know how the OBV DSM technician has. He made it look just as easy as it is with that tool or the old fashioned valve spring compressor method that I use. Its removing everything else in a controlled and reversible way that most new people run into probs with. What if its not the valve seals and he went out and spent all that time to take it apart and money for the fancy tools just to have to remove the head to replace the valves? Lets see the on car valve replacement video. Oh thats right no special tool will get that.

It can be done on the car, it will be time consuming, and slow going. but it can be done.

yes you will need some specility tools to do it, some are as low as $65 for the spring compressor that is used on the car.

But if the guides are wore out, just changing the seals will work for a bit.

I bought this tool to do my friends valve guide seals with the head on the motor. I am getting ready to do mine the tool works great. It takes some time but it works.
here is the link Euro Export, Inc.

im sure they have some wear with that many miles on them, thats assuming they have have never been changed,

all you can do is change the seals, and drive the car, and try to burn all the oil out of the exhaust and see

i just had a head rebuilt and the valve guides are no good I looked at them and there are cuts in them. Having that many miles I would thing that it is the valve guides or the valve stems.

when i took off the exhaust manifold i only found oil in 3 ports so i hope its just the seals if not then wtf! it sucks ### i had the whole motor apart all ready once but not the head only two of the valves to see if they got bent

cool congrats!!

Hope it stays that way for ya !
